How much water?

My plants are almost 40 days old, and about 16" tall. There are each in 6"x6"x6" pots. I just really want to know what you guys think when it comes to exactly how much water should I be putting on each plant? I water about every 4 days, or when the soil looks ready for a drink. What do you guys think?

Thanks!

i always go by how heavy the pot feels in my hands. when i water i test the weight and then each day when i check on my plants i lift the pot again. when its super light i water. before i water though, i remember how much the parched plant/soil weighs. you just have to get used to it. go by feel. :peace:

Anyone got an approximation for me? Sorry to be impatient, but I am about to add my first batch of 20-20-20, just wanted the perfect amount of water to go with it :bigjoint:

-Thanks

a little tip for you is to- when roots start to show at the bottom of your pot have a spare bucket and have your feed and nuits in the spare bucket, sit your plant in it for about 5 mins, then remove, the plant will have taken what she needs, repeat the same with the rest, topping up the bucket each time it starts to get empty, you only need about 3 or 4 inches of water & nuit mix in your spare bucket but the plant will always just take what they need, ie a good drink, when the pot is nice and dry and feels light to lift just repeat ok, thats a much better way than to stand and flood it and not know what you have gave it, you can up the standing in the bucket time as she gets bigger to around 7/8 mins, best of luck to you fella.

This will save the guess work as the plant will only draw up from the bucket what she needs, just like any animal etc they walk away when they are full, so lift out your girl after 5 mins she will have taken what she needed, saves you pouring away into a pot and not knowing how much you have gave her, trust me on this one.

Thanks a lot for the tip. I was just wondering how much water you guys would put in a 6"x6"x6" pot, medium:potting mix? I was trying to use this to accurately measure the feed I'm adding

So I distilled a gallon of water and added 1/2tsp. of the 20-20-20 to it, and then watered my plants like I normally do, except this time I recorded how much I used. I calculated it out to be about 6.1 fl. oz. per plant. This sounded kind of low to me after I thought about it, but the plants never showed signs of too much/too little water.

I'm sure everyone's setup has so many variables that affect how much water is needed. I'm using the 6" pots with potting mix, and some rocks at the bottom. And apparently these bad boys (well hopefully girls) have been growing like champs off of roughly 6 fl. oz. every 3-4 days :weed:

Hope you didnt put to much nutes in. I would have gotten some nutes with a little more nitro. Other than that I water every 3 days and when they get really big every 2 days.

I was going off the advice of my Uncle who has growing since '79 hahaha so he better not steer me in the wrong direction! haha

Thanks for response. Yea I noticed that my watering period went from 5 days to four days and now its about every 3 days. The plants are 40 days old. They have been on 18/6 since they sprouted. Well in a few days, we'll see if I used to much or not haha

I added the nutrients about 3-4 hours before the dark cycle, to make sure that the water soaked all the way down. The plants responded like absolute beats! They all have grown substantially since the watering and look even fuller!
