HPS banned for home grows?

exactly!

once you pass the "fire inspection" process, then in a few months, next up comes "the compliance check"

total invasion of privacy IMO. and just more info to be used at a later date. against us, the private growers.

and great point about still illegal on a Federal level. if the DEA gets a hair up their ass, they start the crack-down. those on the "lists" are easy to find and will be first to busted.
I just don't see it happening where i am bro.
I understand where you are coming from, but I view it exactly like rkymtn said below your post. And with this new election coming up I think being on the radar in anyway is a very bad idea, regardless of who gets elected. I know people who work directly with dispensaries that we're telling me all of the bust in pueblo to denver were due to the dispensary owners paying off the cops. The part that upsets me about that is there were a couple cases where they even prosecuted (or are trying to) people that were completely within their limit, following the laws ( raised plant counts )

Also, like yoda said above me. There's been all sorts of stuff like that happening over the last couple years. I'm all for legalization, but legalization in Colorado for the most part has shitted all over mmj patients.
I'm not trying to argue,I'm not even in Colorado,if you guys who live there say its so who am I to question anything I don't have to live with .

I co owned Michigan's 1st 100% legal co-op for 3 years before i sold out to my super greedy law breaking partner i couldnt wait to get away from ,hence the big grow I have & inspections I've had,in Michigan all legal mj users are already on lists & I've seen no heavy handed federal intervention here.

No matter what state I believe the HID inspections to be a valid safety issue,in all states,if Colorado is being heavy handed I'll have to take your word for it .

Here's some laws they have passed in the last few years to hurt home grows

1) limited plant count numbers to a max of 12, only 6 can be flowering, no matter your medical recommendation(your medical plant count don't mean anything)
2) limited your growing area, now you can only use 150 square feet
3) made it illegal to make BHO
4) made HPS lights illegal
5) allow the fire dept inspect your grow room whenever they want
While I don't agree with limiting grow space or BHO being schedule #1 narcotic I do agree with grow safety & fire inspections,it may be entirely different in Colorado for all I know with cops abusing legal growers.

I think most of our problem is our fear of imprisonment or worse.....

That's very unfortunate and if true very disgusting. However I'm not here for that. Let's not jack this thread and make it personal. We are here trying to protect our families. I appreciate the heads up but let's stick to the topic at hand.

what ? so they are banning hid grows?

Says

Among the requirements approved by city council on Tuesday:

-Only 150 square feet of a residential structure can be used for a grow operation.

-Only LED, CFL, or fluorescent lighting is allowed, unless otherwise approved by the fire department.

-Ventilation systems are allowed, but they must be the filtered type; Odors cannot be detectable beyond the structure.

-Pitfalls or booby traps intended to harm anyone who disturbs the operation are strictly prohibited.

-Fire inspectors have the authority to inspect any structure with a grow operation for compliance.
Looks like what I had said about HIDs being replaced by COBs is underway.

HPS and MH--all HID--are decades-old technology that present hazards as well as are horribly energy consuming and inefficient. You waste 1000w on what you could get from ~300w of COB in a slightly smaller area. HIDs work, sure, but they are definitely on their way out. This shit is just the beginning.
Not being argumentative but just inquisitive......u think led are comparable with double ended? For comparative purposes, I have heard of people getting 3.25-3.5 per with DE. Is Led anywhere near that?

I read in the news paper they did this cuz residents and property landlords are complaining about large grows in residential areas. I think the tipping point was that large grows were destroying transformers. Not sure how true that is but regardless this is very concerning. Do HIDs make our grows illegal? My thing is how are they gonna know and what's the penalty for using them. 150 Sq of grow space isn't very big either.
HIDs are literally consuming most pf the energy as it leaves the power plant, from what I've heard. Sounds like what you are stating is related and all but confirms what I've heard.

Not LEDs. COBs. HUGE difference. COBs were invented to replace HIDs in highbay/lowbay industrial operations. LED panels were not. Short answer: Yes, easily.

It's all so technical, dude....what about a guy like me, that only needs a couple closet plants for medicinal production? I heard something about a "$40 light from Home Depot"....

I only run 2 plants in my closet under 2 COBs. You could probably start with 1 until they get bigger. 1 of my 89w COBs smokes both my "450w" (203-206w draw each) ViparSpectras with ease.

Ah. Yeah, but I don't wanna get into to wiring/messing with fixtures/etc., man. This is an old house with fickle wiring, no need to create a potential situation, eh?
Surely there are simple 'over-the-counter' lamps that would allow me to produce an ounce or two per month, aye?

Speaking of, I'm nearing the end of my FINAL seed trials! Got some smooth black shiny ones that I'm popping next!
(I'd planned to go full steam ahead a couple weekends ago, but I want to make sure that every possible kink is worked out before potentially squandering my time/$$$.)
