HPS or T5 with seedling

I got my seedlings under the T5 right now but itching to use my new 1k. If I do how far should I put it above, I dont want to burn the little fellows.

Use the T5 for 2-4 weeks then use the HPS. HPS isn't too amazing for veg either.

Yeah you don't need the HPS till your either ready for flower or have very large plants. You would also want to use a MH conversion bulb for veg. You can still veg under HPS fine and I did it for years but recently switched all my veg bulbs for MH and have seen an overall improvement in the plants.

Using it on small plants will be a waste of electricity.

hps does great for veg, but i notice speedier growth under 6500k t5's because of the more ideal spectrum
