I GOTTA LOSE THE AIR PUMPS! HOW?! Plus my awesome mini DWC :)

But how do you get fresh O2 into the pot if you don't have something to move air in and out as well? E&F naturally replenishes O2 during drain. How does DWC get fresh air when liquid level doesn't change?
You have a concussion? Lol, just playing. WATERFALLS IN EVERY BUCKET.

Yes, I get the waterfall in every bucket, but the air the waterfall is mixing is stagnant in the bucket, right? I mean there's no fresh air going into the bucket so eventually the O2 will be depleted....at least to some level where it equilibrates with diffusion of air on the other side of the net pot, but there's not an active flow of fresh air into the bucket headspace replacing the stagnant air, right? That's why I was thinking the venturi would be a good thing because it would pull in fresh air from outside the bucket to replace/refresh the stagnant air inside the bucket headspace. Does that make sense?

Another question, different but related topic, what are the recommended inline/not-in-sump pumps to use for an 8 bucket setup with say 30gsl res. Thinking of using 12gal totes for plants and 30-60 gal res tote with waterfall. Probably go with a 900gph pump I'm assuming.

By breaking the water surface your driving oxygen into the water, its not depleted. I was sceptical too before I built a waterfall system but at this point I'll never use any other system/medium. Listen to Airwalker.

The air bubbles you're "injecting" into the water with an airpump/stone is NOT what oxygenates the water. The bubbles rising to the top and breaking the surface tension is what does the job. Gaseous exchange is done on a very small scale right at the surface of the water he. it is broken, oxygen is added. This is why air pumps and stones are just a hassle. Loud ass humming 24/7 was enough for me to can that method. But not to even me too. The stones getting DISGUSTING after a few runs and having to either boil them or replace them and the air lines get pretty nasty too and all those lines webbing over to each site just doesn't look great. It's just stupid. A nice Manifold to reach every bucket and a nice inline or submersible pump in or at the res, is all you need.

Sweet deal, brother! Let's see it! Post some pics.
Cleaning the system isn't very complicated. You're gonna want a shop vac of some sort. I have a 20gal one that I use for removing all the water but of course, you can always just use a spare piece of tubing to put on the reservoir pump and use it to drain the majority of it and use the vac to get the rest. Harbor Freight sells a 2 piece brush set with a style of brush that is perfect for 2" pipe. So what you need to do is drain your system until there's only a very small amount of water left in each bucket, then use the brush to get inside the pipes as best you can. Its important to use a clean towel as well pulled tight between your hands and use the edge to get under neath your bulkheads or in my case, uniseals. But once you've done that, then go ahead and vac the rest of the system one bucket at a time. There will always be some moisture left so use that to your advantage to manually wipe out every bucket too. Start at the bottom, get it dry and work your way up the walls. Just get the salt build up n gunk off them. I don't use any peroxide or bleach. None of that crap. Just make sure if you have to postpone removing the water, don't let it sit stagnant. Keep your chiller I'd you have one and pump on and keep it moving. Only once you're ready to do the clean up, should you turn it all off. I also recommend using the vac to pull out whatever you can from the tubing used to connect the pump to your manifold and the tubing on Yer chiller.
If you do have a chiller, it's always smart to get a bucket of hot ass water to run through it, switching flow directions every gallon or so you use.

thanks for the reply. ill get a couple pics up as soon as i can here is the pump im useing
its a beast. and hardly puts any heat out. i know its overkill but they had a few refurbs for 100bucks. i have it turned down all the way says its useing 30watts.

here is the cheap ph probe im useing.. so far so good been going on a little over 3months. i just plugged it in. adjusted the ph and havent touched it yet. way better than useing a hand one for me.

this is my first run useing masterblend for nutes. have been useing gh3parts. so far im really likeing the new nutes. i am hardly getting any ph drift

and i know this is off topic but i thought you might find this intersting. sence alought of us has some down time... this guy posted this over at reddit
ill post the link. becease i have a hard time describeing things some times.
https://www.reddit.com/r/conspiracy/comments/fm3es9 i thought you might find it a good read. and plus was interested what you guys thought about it. i emailed him and he sent me the patent. its in pdf form. if theres a way i can send it to ya or just pm him and im sure he will send it to you. if your interested. thanks again

Wow that is a beast of a pump. How many sites do you have on your setup and what size are they and your reservoir?

can anyone tell me if i should get these nutes?
i am currently using soil and the nutes i have are as follows.
GH flora Trio
Calmag
beastiebloomz

now i ordered the stuff for me to build my waterfall system and i am about the order these but not sure if i should:

Masterblend
Silica blast
florakleen
Great white
Hydroguard
FLower Fuel

appreciate your input

Absolutely not. GH flora trio and CaliMagic is all you need.

I've never bothered with running beneficial bacteria to keep a system clean. Sterile RO water, with adding only flora trio and CaliMagic and keeping it under 65, is the way I preach. You'll have to get the skinny on the best way to do it from others.
