OP-Is it legal in your state? is there a way you could get to a rec dispensary or have a friend with a red card go to a medical dispensary and get some clones? I haven't had good experience with dispensary clones, but at the very least all the plants would be the same.

are you planning on a 500$ budget total? Like, if you went out and spent 500$ on your setup and planted some seeds, then on your next payday would you be down to spend $50 on something like nutes or a new fan because your area is getting too hot, or a dehumidifier because RH is high, or sticky traps and neem oil and stuff for any possible pests you might discover? basically I'm saying you can DEFINITELY start (and even go start to finish) on $500, but there are going to be upkeep costs. The above things I mentioned, new lightbulbs every year, changing filters if you use a filter. So if you are not gonna be spending any more than $500, I wouldn't spend more than 400 and keep a rainy day fund personally.

but if you will spend money on this in the future, by all means spend what you can now

c'mon guys, put your brains into some real world thinking scenarios and quit with this nonsensical paranoia. cops wont be a problem as long as the cops don't get neighbor complaints or find it accidentally (ie cop sees "grow lights during night, several hours left on, gets suspicious. asks to search house or come back with warrant" or "cop is at house for some reason, be it some traffic incident, vandalism, sex offender moved in down the block, etc. cop smells marijuana." then he can legally search without a warrant.)

op if you have paranoia not relaxation from growing, its obviously not for you (probably because you seem to be thinking mostly along the lines that the expensive lights, nutes, etc will automatically fix all your inevitable mistakes caused by only knowing 1/10th of what you should before you spend $500...., i say you need to read some. i mean who gets this tripped on a grow thats supposedly personal unless they are truly ignorant of reality)
