On the back of a soil test kit i just got I was reading not to use lime and fertilizer together. I was wondering what could happen? I am pretty sure i did this at least once this season. It said to actually not fertilize for 30 days after a lime application. What could happen, should i be worried?

Lime usually offsets the change in ph you get from adding ferts no? I always add some when adding hot stuff like cow manure to my soil. I don't usually bother testing ph, the plants will tell you if it's wrong.

If I remember right, lime + nitrogen = ammonia. In any case, I've read the same thing and the end result is ammonia being produced at a high enough level to be detrimental to plants.

Lime should really be used on an area months prior to planting. Apparently, ammonia isn't an issue as long as you aren't mixing both fertilizer and lime at the same time....
