I just had an Christmas epiphany!

I hope @jacksmuff has a Merry Christmas too, haven't seen him in awhile, hope he's ok.

Yeah, you need a "Z" visa and the only way to obtain one is with a bachelors. Doesn't matter what discipline. A lot of people go on a tourist "L" or a work "M" and teach, but yes they are illegal and you'll be thrown in jail for a few days then possibly deported. I currently have a 10 year "Q2" visa. Which is the new short term family reunion visa. I can go as many times as I want in 10 years but can only stay 4 months at a time and can't work. I can apply for a "Q1" visa, long term family reunion and then get temporary residence and renew every year but I still can't work. There's a small hope that they'll change the visas again for spouses but I'm not holding my breath. So a bachelors is the surest, safest route.
Can't you buy a BA off the net for like 20 bucks and simply be done with it?

They can't be legit, right? I could see paying lots of money and taking tests to test out of courses and receiving credits in lieu, but not just outright "buying" one. The Chinese overlords require It needs to be legalized and notarized and all this shit.
It would deeply amuse me if the rule (about from an English-speaking country) was actually saying "we want someone with a real degree, not the crap we sell to foreigners".

~edit~ Which seven countries? I could see getting offended if I was, say, from Botswana.

Let's put it his way: If you try an end around and "buy" the degree, the next time you go to China you'll be considered a Gucci bag of deluxe, pristine and desirable organs.
