Ideas on how to achieve 90%+ voter turnout rate

Most voters aren't informed, just team members that vote for either team red or team blue, no matter how terrible the choice.

You want massive voter turnout? Start government programs that cull the population by the most violent means.
I doubt that can you manage to sound out enough letters on a ballot to find out where to cast you vote for team red. C'mon, admit it, your mom fills it out.

Oregon has been voting by mail for quite a while now. NONE of the issues raised by the opposition has turned out to be true. No issues with fraud, turnout is better (but not great on non-presidential election years) and its easier to sit down with a cup of coffee and cast your vote while at home with information available for double checking. Easier and better at the same time. You are living in the past, use today's tech and make it easier to vote.
i really liked oregon voting.

in arizona, i lived in a few different places. whenever i was in the wonder bread neighborhood of gilbert, i could just walk right up and vote. up in tempe with the college kids and higher minority population, there was always a line to vote. a long one.

similar story here in colorado. my wife and i voted at two separate polling places. i voted at a polling place near where we live, which is 50% hispanic. took me about two hours. she voted at a polling place near where she works, and she waited about 10 minutes to vote. basically all white in that area.

this "phenomenon" is well documented.

oregon voting equalizes all of that. should be a model for the nation.

What I said to tbone.
You're talking about voting by mail aren't you? Mail, despite not being completely guaranteed, is still more secure than an electronic ballot. If you feel we must vote electronically then make it an open source project. Not that an open source project would necessarily prevent folks computers from being hijacked and voting anyway. But it would be better than every electronic system I've seen implemented, all of which are propriety hardware - some with almost no security to speak of.

That assumes people who choose not to vote don't vote because they're ignorant. I'd say there are a lot of reasons why people choose not to vote, apathy for the system imo is no. 1. Congress currently has an 18% approval rating, Supreme Court 44%, and Obama 48%, so the majority of Americans don't approve of the government.

You're comically misinformed if you think "voters are informed, thinking people who reasonably give a shit.", and I don't think implementing changes like the ones suggested in the OP would affect that
OK, I over-did the "informed" part. But the people who vote do care enough to go to the polls. Which means they've at least thought about who to vote for.

Or they were paid in cigarettes and beer and bussed to the polls, as I witnessed in Jacksonville, FL.

Right...

That must be why you started a sock puppet account and stalked me for months pretending to be a woman.

And then you put me on ignore. Then you took me off ignore and had one of the biggest RIU meltdowns to date. lol

Don't flatter yourself though, I "stalk" a lot of people here.

You're the one who went from being one of the most respected members to being, well, you, as a result of the post, then you deleted it and banned me and started harassing everyone else who joined me in berating you.

You had by far the biggest meltdown this website has ever seen, fdd2black.

Snail mail has its limitations but is much better than the ballot box. Electronic access has fewer limitations but would need to be protected and maintained because antidemocratic forces will love the idea of no paper trail. I recognize that there is a trade-off between the two. My concern is that snail mail is on a track towards obsolescence and we need to start working on a more modern version of vote by mail -- one that would be more acceptable to the up and coming voters. Open source is a good suggestion.

Wait until you ask him to cite a claim.
I like kids. It's fun to watch them develop new ideas, no matter how impractical. I like to see them develop their word skills. It becomes boring after a while though and I wander off to talk with adults. I don't have any skills or interest in working with special needs children, however. I have much respect for parents and teachers that do work with special needs children. @NoDrama needs more of this kind of care than I'm willing to provide.

You should hear about Robroy and his cute little idea called Anarchocapitalism where everything he doesn't like is basically the same as rape but pedophilia is consensual. If you think special needs kids are fascinating, just wait until you get a load of fedora wearing neckbeard teenagers with cheetoh fingers who just finished reading The Virtue of Selfishness by Ayn Rand.
