Heres what I've got so far...

I'm getting a small tent for a closet grow: 30" x 18" x 36"
I'll be doing hempy bucket because its easy as shit! ha
I'll only be growing one at a time (scrogging) *unless someone thinks two would be better.
-I'm going to try an auto flower (Dutch Passion Think Big) first most likely
-I'm also buying Barneys Farm Critical Kush
(I'm shooting for at least an ounce)

I want to get an LED light because of the small space and inevitable heat issues...my question is what wattage LED should I look into? and any brand recommendations??

this site has been a godsend for years, so id love to give a shout out to the admins and the awesome growing community we share here. started this new profile when I moved, and now im just finally getting back on my feet and looking to start making a stealth cabinet. I would love to use LED's for the heat factor but am having a tough time narrowing it down. ive paged through this thread and found some useful stuff but id love to hear from the guru's. Some things to keep in mind: im HOPING to be doing anywhere form 2 to 4 ladies, the cabinet is not made so feel free to make suggestions, LED will be the primary (plan on having some t5's for extra light?). I realize im asking a lot from this thread but my brains bursting at the seems and this is my only outlet for the time being. thanks for taking the time, squidee cuddlepuddle. .....ps....if any gurus wanna pm me and take me under their wing.....id be eternally grateful

With a 3x3 to 4x4 footprint, a single a51 xgs-190 with a couple 2700k T5s on the side would get you good results. In place of the T5s, you could add a second xgs or two hans panels and be rolling bud.

haven't heard about hans panels til you mentioned them so went n did some lookin around and I really like that he shows you his results as he's experimenting. 2 a51's is totally out of the question I just don't have the cash flow for that, but a good thing to keep in the back of my head as an upgrade. Im torn between the a51 xgs190 and some filler, or 3 hans panels and some filler. either way I know I will add more, less expensive lighting down the road to this cabinet. which do you guys recommend for walls? mylar or white??

I've used both mylar and white plastic. The mylar is extremely prone to tearing, whereas the white plastic can take a beating. My two cents...

Yes, the bulbs do run 80 each, how about for quality of light though? 640 for the bulbs, and 200 for the ballast, we're looking at 900 investment, 8 bulbs at how many watts/lumens each, plus the low heat/

At that price I can guarantee you that there isn't any Cree diodes in it..........also bridgelux doesn't make half of those nm.......soo stay away

for a 2x2 at around $305(shipping included) with REAL cree and osram 660nm emitters this is your only option http://www.bonsaihero.com/ledgrow-led-panel-80-watt.html

It should beat 250w of cfl in flower........remember that in the winter your temps will be allot cooler with this panel than your cfl grow(170 watts less)

be safe and good luck

That's what I've been dealing with.
I just close it up and turn the fan off and let the LED's heat up.
Usually around 80 in my house. I'll periodically turn the fan on the flush the air around.
All is well...

It's pretty dead here tonight and I suspect it will be tomorrow, too, being Super Bowl Sunday. But I can tell you that I bought an Area 51 SGS-160 last November and I'm extremely happy with it. Very well made and very effective for growing pot plants. I previously used fluorescents, but this is MUCH cooler and uses far fewer watts. Great customer service, lifetime warranty... I have no complaints so far.

I don't know anything about the Hans Panel, except what I've read other people say about it. But if you have specific questions about the Area 51 lights, I can try to answer them. The web site also has a ton of useful info: Area 51 Lighting

thank you dave :3 I will be bumpin over to your grow in a min here, but I appreciate your response. ummm, well what do you think about the heat off the lamp, overall performance (how many plants, how big of space?). indoors ive only ever just done h5's, always did outdoor stuff so the LED scene is new to me but seems more effective for me here. im hesitant about the hans because ive seen a few places where people say theyre not bright enough but I mean I don't have a huge area to cover??? would probably make more sense to do a51 because if I do the hans I'm gonna buy 3 panels anyways, would be saving money and probably a better light???

Brother Squidee Knowing The Size Of Your Cab Would Be A Great Help In Determining Which Led To Suggest. Now In Respect To The Has Panel Imho Its The Best Low Wattage(80 Watts) Light On The Net And Shouldnt Be Compaired To The Area-51 Which Is 190 Watts.I Own 10 Area-51 leds And Im Going To Try The Hans In My Small Cab 36x24x65 This Summer

im still speculating as to how much space I have. 36x24x65 ought be pretty close though, sounds about right for a decent size dresser. I have yet to build this idk if I wrote that earlier, just sizing everything up for now. I like the a51 xgs 190 but my concern is heat. I realize LED's run much cooler than any other light ive used in the past but still.
