I hadnt meant to offend you dolamic, I just watch bs' go for 180-220 on ebay regularly.... for 85 bucks more you can get a more "up to date" panel, with a warranty..

Im not sure any of us know which one is best.. at the beginning of it all they believed in 2 spectrums.... then 3..... then 6, 11, 12, 16+

Now... full spectrum whites. just hobble along, and BAM! changed the whole game...

know what im saying? I wasnt trying to badger or put anyone down by ANY means

just saying a lot of things have changed since the BS180/240

I dig Scotch, think me and you ran into each other sometime earlier this year...

LED's are still new and to the layman hard to understand.

Too many facets and spectrums to navigate. Sooner or later it will be legal, and LED's will be d34d s0n

Performance all comes down to umol output. umols/watt or umols/$ are good ways to look at what your getting from a unit.

This might not be the thread for this, but here is what I think about spectrum...
Spectrums started with blue and red because those are the peak action wavelengths. This theory allowed LED's to try to compete with HID based on using the light spectrum to make up for their lack of output/watt. As tech developed in output efficiency they also realized that more wavelengths were needed, so more were added. Now white is still basically blue and broad red, but with small amounts of less important but still necessary wavelengths, which is what the additions to the original red/blue theory were trying to achieve. Using multiple separate wavelengths instead of white is just an other way of getting around the inferior raw output. But now we have reached the point of LED's having more output/watt even on the lumen scale, and whites are doing it while still hitting the key peaks for plants.

Hi all
Looking into an LED setup.

i was thinking about a stealth scrog as i have limited space especially height wise :lol:

cabinet dimensions :- Length 960 mm (37 inch) X height 615 mm (24 inch) and has a depth of 490 mm (19 inch)

i am aware its not the best size but its what i have, planning on using an LED panel or maybe 2 LED UFO type fittings.

any tips or hints would be mightily appreciated :grin:

so i got a guy wholl ship a cidly apollo 8 to usa for 300 bucks(which is the top of my budget) even off alibaba. these apollos dont seem like the best but they have a great warranty and they seem reliable and whatnot from what ive read online. just growing 2-3 plants at a time for now and want more than the 2x 125w cfl's and 3x 42w cfl's i currently have. i will keep all the cfl's as supplemental lighting and was just wondering if this is sufficient to get these plants at max coverage for some dense nugs

Maybe think about running multiple panels? Two fours, or six module panels if they cut it down enough.

Usually a company will take a little off if you order multiple panels, and it'll give you better coverage.

It probably isn't if you're buying direct from China. I'm telling you dude, in one year that panel's diodes will probably be running and looking like shit. Are they going to pay for shipping if you have to return it? Ask them how much they charge to ship a new driver to you? You'll see. If you keep saving your cash you'll be able to afford a better one. Or get a Vipar if you want something now. But for 200 more bucks your options increase a bit. You can get 2 Bonsaiheros or an A51. These are better companies to deal with.

It's what I like to say now. Stay out of China if you don't have a map.

EH from A51 is fantastic to deal with. He helped me out with a couple of drivers after my crappy chinese ufo lasted only 2 hours. If i had of saved a little bit of money first, i would have gone A51 just for the service alone. You only get what you pay for!

Because they run hot? Mine arrived today, anything I buy comes at least half way around the world so..
First impressions are that the build quality is a step up on the ebay reflector 3w panel I had (for a couple of weeks :smile:), still obviously chineeeese.
The fans run quieter, the comparable '3watt' diodes do run very much brighter.. Maybe I can play around with the box if that is all that's working in a yrs time ;-)
It cost me about an Oz and a half in local currency.

I would like to have your opinion regarding which light I should get. for flowering I'm currently using the ds200 on a 60*60cm area. i must say that I'm happy with it. I have an extra space for flowering of about 30*60cm which I was considering to cover with a ds100. but then I run in to Hans panels...
so now I need to decide between the ds100 295$ not including shipment, and Hans panel, about the same price including shipment but half the power...

Hans led will cover a 2x2. Its all cree leds it would probably do much better than a ds100 or even ds200. With Hans I would add some warm white spotlight leds since Hans panel does not have white leds. Philips 19.5 w (18w) ones at home depot are good.

Nova s4 is made by evergrow. They make vipar led and 2012 a51 leds.. I would take that over an Apollo.

Ive been looking at the Nova f16 myself.

Edit:

novas have to be bought from U.S. resellers. Evergrow does not sell retail. Only 1000 led min order.

If I were you, I would go with Hans panel while considering it compares with ds100, as the ds100 can be taken from eshine directly, so why pay double.

I dont know, is really the same light? I keep hearing all this stories about how eshine used to make the DS for advanced and not any more, and while the out side looks the same, it is different diodes quality on the in side. Im not sure if it is worth the risk, this is what Im trying to say.

I did the online chat last night. They told me they don't do retail. I asked for a sample. They said get it from a u.s. Reseller. Did not point me in any direction. Yet they have a sales team. So I sent an email inquiring about the nova f16. But I have not gotten an email back.

Eshine used to make advanced led lights. But something over the patent. Eshine owns it or.something. Both companies blames the other for the falling out. Theres a disclaimer about it on both companies web sites
