The stupid thread post awards:

I guess they just feel obligated to wage + free money
It amazes me that americans are so useless.
if you take the job expecting to get by via tips, then that is fucking immature, grow up!
why would you tip someone who walks 50 feet with your order more than one who drives a few miles and wastes their gas and puts wear and tear on their vehicle?
Vote for the stupidest one.

A driver charges accordingly-
A waiter works for tips- if you do not tip you are shorting them pay
Drivers charge a rate for there servise, and tip is above and beyond
A waiter provides a service for your tips, if you don't tip you are not paying for the service you recieved
Think of waitresses as strippers with self respect.
waitresses aint got shit on strippers,I know strippers that bring home 500-1,000 a night in tips.If I was a girl I'd definitely strip. But really any cute girl can make a lot working tip jobs if she can flirt good

if there are signs that the waiter(ess) is a smoker they get a fatty and a five, I'm fucking poor and here in Canada they get paid as much as I do + tips. once I'm done training on heavy machinery and making a fat bank roll every week my tips might get better. but I've seen wait staff's faces light up when they see a Juicy Jay and a bluenote for there troubles when the couple across from me tipped a 20 and just got a polite smile

Also, I always tip wait staff, food delivery and taxi drivers. Wait staff usually get about £5, food delivery and taxi drivers usually get £1.

it's really messed up...I'd say 75% of the time the people stiffing waiters on tips are middle to high level income...and they just don't tip anyone and are aholes. And they try to do it on the sly when nobody is looking, they don't want to face the person they stiffed

I once got a $50 tip for lifting a briefcase from a car trunk to a pilot. The pilots were like "he gave you $50? wtf? We didn't get anything." And they were the ones flying this dude around in a speeding capsule of death. Weird things happen.

Yeah, it's a fact that lower income people give more to charity. It seems to be that the more money they have the tighter they are.

Yes because our great systems is based on the restaurant business. The tipping system is there to make sure waiters actually work hard. Unlike every shitty European restaurant who get paid the same no matter how many times they refill drinks. They can give you cold food & dirty dishes but still get paid the same.

Americans work hard

Average European work week :32 hours

Average American work week :40 hours

Plus your 2 month vacations.

Saying one works harder over another is a generalization and biased. :)

I don't give a fuck what Greece thinks. lol Or you. Anybody. I'm just throwing it out there and it doesn't matter one way or another, the post itself doesn't matter. :)
OK i see i was generalizing because i don't know if every European restaurant has shitty service. However i went to a restaurant in France & asked the waiter for a water when he was walking by. Hegave me a disgusting look like why they fuck are you asking me for that. He turned around and gave me the leftover water from some people who just left.

LOL See that's when you go bitch out the manager and call the equivalent of Health and Human Services and do anything you can to fuck with the waiter and the restaurant. Should be fun. :)

I bet if you had asked with a bit of napalm he would have run down to the closest river to fetch a bucket of water to bring back and purify for your drinking pleasure. Napalm motivates people, especially wait staff....and yeah, if you suck at your job or are having a bad day and bring it to my table, fuck you and your tip.

But I've given out $50 on a $40 tab just because I wanted that person to know they did an awesome job, so if you're good or at least prompt and courteous, you'll usually get a decent tip out of me.

I've seen a married couple who had all the money you would want fight over how to split the tip, who had what, and exactly how much to leave with a lame little 'tip card' he keeps in his wallet...I used to go to the bar for lunch with 5 guys, we never had any trouble...someone just throw the bitch $20 bucks so we can go back to work....it didn't matter who, who ever didn't do it last time, or the last guy to finish his beer,whatever...but either way, you should leave a fuckin tip!!...I couldn't go back in a place if I stiffed on the tip. Plus , it was usually a bikini bar with killer food, good prices, and hotties serving...so.
