College is a fucken joke.
Due to the economy being a fucken joke.
What's college gonna do for you when you won't be able to find a fucken job.

Do yourself a favor and look at the technical schools.
They'll help with job placement.
Plus, they won't cost you nearly as much as a regular college.

Pick-up a trade. Go to trade school and find a job that will pay well now. Where I work in construction we have a business major a wannabe chef an accountant a teacher. All great professions but they work a crappy construction job why? Because there is a demand for skilled labor and tradesmen. If botany and horticulture is your dream? Expect to work construction for a while until something comes along or pick up a trade and get paid now. Just talking from experience, good luck

Way to be EXTREMELY pessimistic BongJuice!

And dahamma, a Chef is a trade job too.

I say find a city that you love, move there and never look back. Do what you want to do even if it does not make any money.

A job is not so much work when you love it!

Maybe pick up some "trade" jobs just to make the rent but do what makes you happy man!

If I could do it all over my friend this is how it would play out.
Get to Amsterdam, live free as long as I can before they want to kick you out find a woman you can put up with and marry her. Grow Dope.

hey lbow, i'm a college professor in nyc. i have a little bit of experience when it comes to the "whole college thing". if you are interested in going to school, i would suggest starting at a community college. that way you can save your money and also find out what you want to do. i have so many students that switch their majors multiple times in their first couple of years of schooling and it is rough going when you are spending 30 - 40 grand to be there and you don't even know what you want to do.

if you are interested in botany/horticulture, get a two year degree in biology to make sure that you like it. it's a ton of math and science and you are going to need the background knowledge, anyway. if that still tickles your fancy, move onto a four year college that fits your needs. don't ever let anyone tell you that going to college is a waste of your time/money. i went to school for almost ten years and it has been completely worth it. college is an investment and the quality of life that comes from a good education is way different from just working trade jobs for the rest of your life. my old man worked in the mining industry for 30 years and he never moved up in the world. he made sure that my siblings and i went to school so we could do better than he did. if you have any questions shoot me a pm and we can talk. :peace:

Sure being a chef is a trade, but he told me that being a chef pays 15 dollars an hour. 15 buck an hour for what you love? Great if you can swing it. He's smart and we pay him 20 an hour. Bottom line is construction pays now. If you hold out and do what you love? Expect to wait a loooong time. Work is called work because nobody loves it. Maybe I'm old school but ,if you hold out to do what you want expect to wait a while. In a perfect world everybody would do they're dream job and be happy and be paid well for it.The truth is We don't live in a perfect world and I won't be paid 35$ an hour to sniff flowers all day

If he asked the same question to me 10 years ago, I'd probably say "Go for it".
But why "Bullshit" people?
I tell it the way I see it.

That's what's wrong with people today.
They wanna hide behind their computer screens and never face the real truth.
Everyone is so damn afraid of confrontation and hurting someone's feelings.
