I'm at a crossroad in my life. (unemployment, etc)

(please ignore my post count, i can only assume quite a few people will see it and move on)

Normally I would not make a thread about shit that goes on, however I really value the opinion here and I figure there are alot of members who have had similar experiences. The simple version of the question is; should I collect unemployment and grow dope or find another job..

I'm a Canadian adult who lives in a one bedroom apartment. I have done grows outside and inside for the last 3 or so years. Our last harvest was almost 10lbs (outdoor); I love marijuana and growing it is a passion. Today to make a long story short I left a very toxic work environment and I am now unemployed.

I have two choices here (both temporary):

Do I claim back EI (i've paid thousands into it over the years) and grow mariijuana (selling to said persons) and volunteering on the side (i'm not bullshitting, i do volunteer :joint:).

Or do I go back into the rat race, not take any risks and plug away making minimum wage working 40 hours a week. (okay so I worded it a little poorly)

Anyone had a similar experience? This would only be temporary until my lease is up then I would move onto a better city with real jobs and employment opportunities. (I live in a city of 25,000 students and elderly).

Thanks for taking the time to read this, It would be great to hear some input.
Cheers,
and happy toking :joint:

I say you go all out and grow as much weed as possible, and try and pull your biggest outdoor harvest ever next year...I mean think about it, 20 plants, average at least 1 pound per plant, thats 20 pounds, selling at a conservative $2000 per pound....thats $40000, now I know it may not work out that smoothly, but you will definitely come out making a big profit of untaxed money, working a normal job can be very counter productive even though its a steady paycheck, it may get you by but I think a lot of ppl would agree that its a means to no end, mostly paycheck to paycheck, the cost of just living is insane. Or you could grow a decent amount of pot while holding a normal job, thats what im doing.

Thanks guys, interesting opinions! Loonies hahaha.

Zig Zag, I would ideally love to just do personal grows with a steady income that allows me spending money, etc. That's my ultimate goal. There is only one factory that pays over $15/hr here and they just laid off a shitload of people. I only have my highschool education.

Does the scenario change now because I am on probation.. Is that a big enough reason to avoid it? I will always be growing weed, just taking the plunge and doing large-scale grows is the question.

I sell outdoor pounds for 1k each, and I normally get 4 - 10 ounces off each plant :)

Do what you need to do to get by...take what you can get as long as you dont hurt anyone or get yourself in trouble...you are responsible for yourself so your ends justify your means.

Hey man, I feel your pain. I'm not unemployed but I barely make enough to get by. Child support, rent, blah, blah the list goes on. I started a small grow in my apartment just so I could remember what it felt like to have a couple extra dollars in my pocket.

STAY FAR AWAY FROM ONTARIO, it's USA's little dwarf brother.. Very conservative, and unemployment is fairly high. I love Alberta and British Columbia though; People in Ontario won't even look at you let alone say hello when you pass them on a sidewalk, etc.

OT: I expected to have 90% of the people on here tell me to fuck off and go get a job and only grow personal; haha, not saying i'm looking for people to agree but I assumed selling weed was a mortal sin here.

Yeah man alot of people will bash others if they admit to growing commercially. Just gotta let em blow it out their asses is all. Not everyone can grow there own premium buds and those that can't deserve to smoke on something better than street swag too. I mean I'm against kids running the streets with 1/8ths in their pockets and I would never engage in that type of low end dealing. On the other hand there is absolutely nothing wrong with letting go of your hand raised product to fellow adults for their personal use, people who appreciate the efforts put into raising quality plants =) Just my .02

Peace

Interesting take on it bro, cheers!
I ended up deciding against EI, and I will attempt to go with Ontario Works (less money more expectations, but they can help train you) however I just finished a commerical size cloning area :)

Sweet man, when you get everything setup you should start a grow journal. I would be interested in following some progress. There is a guy on here from Humboldt County who has a massive greenhouse grow. I enjoy following stuff like that. FUn watching the grows I can't wait to have one day =)

Good Luck!

There are some that stuck up, with that said, I never saw anything wrong with growing/selling weed on any level, just be careful of new faces, and be careful as hell...

Id say have a grow cycle of maybe 5 - 10 plants and have a job, you don't have to work 40 hours, 20 hours is enough. Having nothing to do inset cool in the long therm.

Good luck friend, hope you find a good solution.

the bad thing about collecting unemployment for a long time is they think you were in jail when you decide to go back to work with a long gap of unemployment.
