our presidents have been progressively smaller men since the start of the 20th century, each one less powerful in his personality, and less representative of the american character. likewise their policies have been less founded on our constitution and more geared towards appeasing the bureaucracy. even reagan who was uncommonly charismatic, and carter who was uncommonly honest were not the men that Theodore Roosevelt or Warren Harding were. the treend reached it's nadir with bush 1's limp wristed response to numerous affronts which so emboldened saddam that he just assumed he could do as he wished, to clinton's personal failures and even MORE limp wristed responses to saddams actions.
obama may be an inveterate liar, a chicago style politician and entirely unqualified for the office of the president, but at least he's not an embarrassment to the nation like bush1 and clinton.
