In need of some insperation! (CFL)

thats a large area, are you sure you wouldnt rather just get a 400 or 600w hps? i got a 400w setup from ebay that included everything- digital ballast, reflector, hps and mh bulbs, timer, hangers and all that nonsense for only 140 shipped... theyre on there all the time. its much easier to only have 1 light to deal with then a whole bunch of cfls trust me! cfls work fine dont get me wrong, but with that big of an area you could grow a lot of plants, and to grow a lot of plants you would need a TON of cfls, or 1 hid.

I understand where u are coming from with the hps. They are way to hot and make ur plants spindly and thin and tall. Although you yeild a lot with hps, I still want to try a cfl setup this time. Close Friend of mine uses hps lighting and we wanted to try some cfls. Thank you for info, although i didnt ask for info but for insperation on setup.

Boomer Bloomer, that is a massive set up man! Thats some industrial shit! Nice though, I can only wish for such a setup, maybe only a mini one, but yeah.

Well, dunno if I could, but there is a lot to consider, cash, space, time. I grow for me, myself and I alone aswell, so that makes a difference. Cool though man, you must have spent a small fortune!!

The amount of CFL's you will need to adequately light your grow area will put off as much heat (if not more) as an HPS lamp.
I use a 600w hps in a 4'x3'x7' with a 6" inlinefan through a carbon filter. I don't have any issues with temps, and my plants aren't spindly, thin, and tall.....that part is genetics based for the most part (inadequate lighting will also cause tall thin spindly plants)
If you really want to use CFL's you are going to have to have them about 3" from your plants to get the necessary light penetration and prevent unnecessary stretching

I dirt farmed for 31 years. Inside 10 years.
This did not just pop up over night.
My back yard used to be my grow.
Worked our asses off for 215 and I moved it inside
