Hello guys, when is the best time to flower? Or what are some indicators you use to know when to start flowering. My girls are 5 weeks in veg phase today. Please help your fellow asian lady out!

If you had a scrog setup I would say definitely, but you could probably go a little longer because it looks like you have plenty of vertical space. I'd take a second opinion, and I'm not sure how fast they are growing, but I think you could go a week or two longer. I used to own one of those lights.

They will probably double in height so keep that in mind when you decide. How much more room to grow up do you have?

Oh yes, is it necessary for me to get a scrog net. I’ve been planning and thinking about doing it soon actually. But do I need if it there’s still a lot of room?Thank you for the advice and I will take your response to consideration ☺
also, what lights do you now use ? And do you recommend it over the one you used to have?

Well they are only 12 inches tall after training etc. also in a 4x2 tent. This is my first “serious” grow lol so I’m not quite sure what to aim for but everyone’s been so helpful with great ideas. Thank you for your response(:

As I'm not an asian lady feel free to ignore the following advice. ;)

Regular photo plants can be forced to flower from the moment they sprout but that's not recommended as they haven't reached sexual maturity yet.

You may have noticed that as the little plant grows the fan leaves at each node are directly opposite each other. As the plant matures those leaves begin to alternate as they emerge and that's one indicator that you can flower any time. Another is pre-flowers. At the base of the little side branches that start at each node there is often a tiny growth. At first it just looks like a tiny nub but as it gets bigger it will take on either a tear-drop shape, (female), or stay mostly round, (male). The proof is when tiny white hairs emerge from the tear-drop shaped ones and that for sure is a girl. Those stay standing up straight too and are attached to the plant solidly where the male flowers will tend to grow up on a stalk then droop over and often look like a scrotum. This usually happens by weeks 5 - 7 if it's going to happen at all before flipping the lights to 12/12.

Sometimes it's good to have a net setup higher to prop the colas, but I think you might be too far along to properly scrog them.

Honestly that light is probably sufficient for your first grow. You really need to step everything up once you step up your lights. You'll probably want a bigger tent, and you'll need AC, and growing is going to be more touch and go. Just enjoy this cycle, learn as much as possible from it, get high on your own supply, and then start building your vision.

Hey man. I'm an ol' school fool. But I don't worry about weeks. It's a guesse. I believe in re-vegging and that has taught me to just watch the plant. I smash my plant with nuts the first month then taper down to clean out. 7 gallon pots. Good drainage and check your leaves. Big green (almost puffy) fan leaves is full veg. Thinner (feels furry) in flower. And let it yellow out the last couple weeks. It's all about nuts. Veg longer.. keep nitrogen. When you drop it then go to flower. Blast with phosphorus until it looks cool. Then just add 0-0-62 For a couple weeks and the majic happens for a week or two or three. Npk people. Start n go p finish with k! Kinda funny but makes many nice dence buds. It's up to you to add your touch to make it stink

The plants will show maturity with pre flower pistils coming from the calyx.

That's when I suggest to flip.

Forcing premature flip just doesn't feel right to me. Like a 10 year old that's suppose to have a bicycle and the parents gave him a motorcycle. But that's just my opinion.

Also do you have any pics with the grow lights off flash on?

But how does one know when it looks cool? To stop the phosphorus blasting that is? Asking for a friend...

I agree, but for me filling up space always takes longer than it does for the plants to show maturity. I never run a whole lot of plants in a single square though.

12” after training? I’m not rushing you to flip them I just don’t want to see you run out of height.

Yes I really don’t want to run out of height either. I totally understand. for my future grows, before you flip what is a recommended height you like to use after training? Thanks again

WOW THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME ON WRITING THIS BEAUTIFUL THOROUGH RESPONSE! haha, you know what? I just checked and mine has little hairs already, about 2-3 nodes down so I’m guessing she’s pre flower already... oops lol. Probably time to switch it to 12/12 yes? Also what can happen if I veg her for a few more weeks? Will she just automatically go into flower since she’s already in flowers so vegging is now pointless? The reason why I do want to veg her longer is because they say the longer the bigger the plant in veg, the bigger the yield. Not sure on how true this is but before I planted her seed I was planning to veg her 7-8 weeks veg. Did not plan on 5 weeks at all. Any tips or ideas on this? I appreciate it! Love.

I like to think of myself as an old school grower as well! When I feed my plant I don’t go off a schedule either and go by the soil, and how she feels, how’s her leaves looking etc. lol

your post is very interesting and reminds me of what my dad would tell me. I was growing with my dad since I was a teen, & he has taught me all the old school ways of reading plants. I have took a snapshot of your response to save in my archive! I love it! Thank you my friend
