I'm using promix hp in 5 gallon pots. If I suspect my soil ph is off would accounting for that when ph-ing water sort of help the soil ph? I didn't add any lime and haven't even started full veg nutes I'm not seeing any sign now.

Can a 400w mh be to close so that it causes the young plants to be so bushy they look stunted?

I pH adjust to around 6.2 for my plants in peat mixes. Yes you can be that close. A lot of people like MH just for that reason.

Try not to get yourself to bogged down with ph.. what strain is it? how old are they? some strains that are indica dominant grow bushy...
mh bulbs tent to grow plants a little more compact it is one of the reasons for use as the blue spectrum shorten inter nodal spacing..

Between 6.2 and 6.5 i believe is optimal for soil growing and 5.8 to 6.2 for hydro.. If you ph to between 6.2 and 6.5 and always get run off when you water i would not be any more concerned with ph than that.

Promix bx is all I used to use for the most part or I would mix them with roots organic original. Either way whether I used pro mix straight or mixed I never had to ph my water or feed and never ran into any issues with ph. Promix on its own is amended fairly well. Hell I still used promix bx as the base of my soil builds making super soil.

Yeah I thought so.. I think droos are my most reliable testing method. I have a meter but don't trust it yet it was 10$.. my drop tests on rain water are dark green indicating about 7-8.0. I water with rain. I have a general hydroponics brand ph kit. I'm using a fox farm trio this grow -Grow big -Big bloom -Tiger bloom.
I'm doing a 24hr veg so far.

Lol. My previous grow was crazy. Bag seed.. I had like 4 200 watt cfls.. 2 on a couple lamps and 2 straight wired. With soil from the leaf pile mixed with only perlite. I never tested water at all and only gave the wrong nutrients (Miraclegrow Quick start) a couple times during flower. I end up with about an ounce of wispy buds -but better than the bud it came from only had a 3 gal plant and a hermi one gallon plant. Only the bud from the abused one gal plant had seeds.

Cheap litmus paper is more than adequate for pH checks for our purposes. However you do it be consistent.

I'm running 2 $60 leds that claim 1000w ( 150 a peace watts at the most I think..)
Along with one 100$ ktaxon brand 400w light with no ductwork.
I have a small fan blowing towards the light. The reflector stays cool when I leave the door open. It's getting to be winter.
Pictured is a bagseed plant looking female. 2 special kush and one special queen from RQSB.
The largest plant is bagseed in leaf litter soil with a 3 gal or so pot about two month old. It were planted during the previous grow during 12-12. It didn't get any light really. After harvest I put it under the newer leds 24hr. now I have 2 led and one 400w.
The plant to the far right is also bagseed about 2 weeks old started in a 1 liter bottle under 24hr light.

I'll be under 24hr of light for atleast four weeks. SHOULD I REPOT THE LARGE PLANT INTO a bigger pot with PROMIX?

My final pots are usually 7 to 10 gallons but i veg a min of 2 months.

Can I get anyone to credit seeds for $ lmao.. lol spent too much on lights this grow. Gotta fill space fast. Don't want to wait and fool with clones.

Id do clones or breed and make your own seeds. Not sure how good those royal seeds are but they’re seeds either way. My go to are exotic genetix, brothers Grimm, alphakronik and a few local to me. There are much better places in the states to order from too that way you don’t have to dick with customs.

I’ve got a bunch of seeds from ones I’m breeding and making stable exotics pink 2.0 crossed with cookies and cream I’ve dubbed it pink elephant. Frosty like my cookies and cream and most have turned pure purple like my pink momma.
