Its the stetch... You can combat it slightly by leaving mh on for the first 3 weeks of flower. they wont shoot as much.

other than that, scrog, lst and topping are the only things you can do to control height.

plants who get hps all the way thru life strech like a bitch, plus i like how the mh light looks. if i have a choice i will take only mh over hps.

howrver, theres no need to make that choice. hps ballasts will run both hps and mh. however i have switchable digital dimms. best money spent

mh ballasts dont rum hps.

I've got an anti stretch campaign going on in my cupboard just now, Ive done what you just said Kush and left the 250W MH in for now. They are still 2 foot from ground to top of the plants, so we'll see how that goes. Anyway I digress, how are things now that the dust has settled cloudy ?, autos still going well ?

the autos are doing quite well! pistils everywhere. still very short though. the top dawg recovered pretty much straight away from the pruning. and the budsites are develloping nicely. i'll definitly have some good photos this coming sunday. no other problems have arose! they're about 4 feet tall. hoping they'll settle around that!

Glad to hear things are still going ahead, when you think about it, if you even get an ounce from your first grow you deserve a pat on the back. My first grow was Northern Lights in a bucket of dirt from the garden under a 250W MH in the attic, I ended up with an ounce and a half and thought I was Jorg Cervantes.

Love it Cloudi! You keep taking bud shots like that and this thread`s going to become a top priority for me ;). Cheese flowers are among some of the wierdest (but most fascinating) you`ll see. Looking forward to your updates mate

Mh will help. mh light grows compact internodes.

ive experimented with hps in veg and mh. hps veg plants are always much more stretched. and leaving mh in until buds actually start apearing helps reduce stature.

also, ensure your light is the proper distance. to far adds to stretching.

and dont add bloom nutes until after the stretch. otherwise, it will add to your height problem

i've actually watered them 2 twice with only a day in between. one with nutes. one without. total new territory for me so i'm not exactly sure on how to approach this
