Is 400w too much for a 0.8m tall tent?

Hey guys I've got 3 seedlings in a 2m tent I thought it was a bit of overkill so I went out and bought a cloning set up. It came with a 130 watt cfl but my plants are at the stage now they could utilize the extra light so my question is would i have any problems putting a 400 watt light 0.8m tall by 0.45 metre wide tent? Like would it heat up too much etc?... Thanks in advance

You may get some extra heat. The best thing is to drop a thermometer in there, and monitor it. If you see it creep above 90 F/33 C, then you would want to put an exhaust fan in there to get the air out.

Yes that is too much light for that space IMO. If you have under 3ft to work with and your hood take sup the top 10-16", and your pots are going to take up 4-8" on the bottom... That leaves you about 10" for plant and distance to light. You'll probably bleach the shot out of them if you can even fit it all in there at all.

You could turn the tent so it was 2m tall and it would totally work though.

I think you may have worded something weird though because it sounds like that tent has the funniest shape/dimensions from your post.

Are you growing pot for Barbie?

My 2'-2bulb 55w T5HO would be too much. A 400w should have a smoke detector for when the fire starts.

Sorry guys just to clear things up the tent is 0.8m (W) x 0.45m (D) x 0.8m (H) ** . My bad

I take it the tent was part of the cloning kit, then? Because I can't think of anything else a tent that size could be used for. I think you need to find a better growing space, because those plants will outgrow that tent sometime within the next 30-45 minutes (if they haven't already done so while I was typing,)

Sorry Guys I think i worded my post a bit weird and I've got people confused. My plants are currently in a 1m square x 2m tall tent under a 400 watt metal halide light. Because theres only a few plants and they're still small I figured I was wasting space by having such a big tent so I went out and bought a cloning kit which came with a 0.8m (W) x 0.45m (D) x 0.8m (H) tent and a 130 watt cfl. my question is would it be possible to put the 400 watt light in the smaller tent or would I be better off using the cfl? Hope that clears things up
