I would use a 5 gallon or larger IMO .. The more space for root structure the bigger and better the plant ... Esp if your using it as a Mom .. Good Luck . Keep Growing

I had a large male plant that was 30" tall and about as wide in a 3 gallon pot and it was no where near root bound. I chopped it about 10 weeks in. Having said that bigger is probably better in your case. 5 Gallon buckets can be had free lots of places, mainly restaurants.

I get my 5 gallon pails from out local Burger King. They throw them away. A friend works there and told me about it. They are pickle buckets.

But I don't own a drill... So if I had to buy one, then I might as well just go ahead and save some $ by buying the pots themselves. So I was wondering if he had an alternative way?

Pocket knife, steak knife, hammer in nails and then remove them.... I can think of several ways. A drill is a necessary item in life you should just go buy one. $30 at walmart gets you a black and decker and all the bits you need.

Drill is a fundamental tool, and they're not expensive at all. If you do any kind of manual work around your house this is a necessity.

If you want minimum cost, you can buy an old school manual crank hand drill brand new for about $12, and not only will it last forever, but obviously its cordless and you never have to charge it.

A decent quality spiral-push type drill can be had new for $8, and its perfectly fine for making neat smooth holes in plastic. Again, no batteries, cordless and portable.

I bought a crappy old power drill at a yard sale for $5. It was a little rusty (taken care of with some 3-in-1 oil), and doesn't vary the drill speed, but works fine for a "beater", and I don't care if it breaks, or gets stolen.

You could probably pick up a good used cordless or corded power drill at any pawnshop for under $20.

If you're STILL reluctant to get a drill, you can punch holes in a plastic bucket any number of ways.

EG: Leather hole punch blade on a Swiss army knife. Soldering iron to melt holes, or even nail heated with torch (don't inhale the fumes).

I'd be careful about trying to punch a hole with a hammer and a nail or any similar method using brute force, there is a good chance you will crack the bucket that way.

Srry no offence if ya cant keep ya smart comments to yourself this sites prob not for you or thread responses anyways
no offense, but if you can't figure out a solution to simple things like how to add drainage holes to a 5 gallon bucket then growing marijuana probably isn't for you.
