is advanced nutrients really worth it?

Hi, so I currently use a combination of foxfarm, advanced nutrients, and cutting edge solutions and my buds are looking nice and tasty, but I just keep having this feeling I could be doing better. So I was looking to try out some shiny new advanced nutrients ferts, but they're oh so expensive. I have a 50 gallon DWC rez, and the price for nutes looks like about $900 on discountadvancednutrients.com

so to all you advanced growers out there IS IT WORTH THE PRICE?

alright what I'm thinkin is I'll run a side-by-side test to settle once and for all if they are really so amazingly great compared to other nutrient companies...look for it in a month or two, I gotta finish up my current grow

I heard many different opinions on AN.
What your talking about for 900$ is the Hobbyist level too.
Go to Grand Master you got like 16 different bottles goddamit.

I was thinking of side by side myself of a few different nutes.
But in order to truly test nutes you need the full line up which would cost too much for an experiment lol

Just order your Nutrient formulation custom mixed. It is definitely not rocket science. All the standard fertilizers with out amino acids can be bought in a dry for for about $8 to $12 a gallon including shipping. You can but all the "supplements" in Canada for cheap. http://www.super-grow.biz/IBAK.jsp

Do you realise for a fertilizer like AN or GH two part your only getting an average of about 2.2 pounds of fertilizer per gallon. That means it is costing them about $1 for the fertilizer salts. Hell they likely spend more on their plastic bottle and their labels than they pay for the fertilizer salts. Go to the link above and you can see the supplements are also cheap. mj specific nutrient manafacturers like AN, Dutch Master, GH and Canna etc are just parasites taking while the taking is good. If and or when they have to compete with U.S. fertilizer manfacturers selling advertised mj specific nutrients they will simply close up shop and retire. There is Humboldt but they are overloaded with ammonium so are really better for outdoor growth and lower lighting system and colder grows. Even then if you lok at their Masters it is just GH or AN two part with a but load of ammonium and too little Nitrate nitrogen. And for that they charge $72 per gallon.

Glad I mix my own.

900 bucks for nutes....does this include lube. Man....that is just crazy. Its a plant/weed....not a rocket engine. Plant it outdoors in good composted soil and watch what mother nature can do with a little water and love. So mabey you get a few more grams or it keeps you stoned 10 minuts longer...is it worth that much moneys? Hell no....but I dont even have 1 grow under my belt so what do I know. I know not to spend 900 on nutes thats what.

There are a lot of things to master before one needs to look at the quality of their nutes. Any reputable company will give you stellar results, but the trick is dialing in how much, and when. If you want to drop $900 on nutes, go for it. But I'll show you growers who use almost no nutes at all and produce a superior product.

I'd really love to do this, but they're aren't very many instructions on the site, what products would you recommend to use and how much of each?

I've been meaning to brave up to the Fatman level of nutrient mixing, but for now I use Maxibloom powder.

Its kind of an all-in-one, and relatively low price

Although according to Lucas its a bit low on Nitrogen, so you could supp a small % to increase that.

ya, there is a thread called "Lucas Formula from Scratch, really" but it is still rather technical. Maybe I could get around to a "Nutrient Mixing For Dummies Thread" which I'm sure would be a big hit here

i use advanced A&B 2 part. Also use Super (Blue) Mother Tea by advanced nutes. i like it. I use it in combination with foxfarm additives (open sesame, beastiebloom, chaching) and a few other things. I have no complaints. My PPM has goen as high as 1300 with minimal burning. I've neated 1.3.lbs dry on Widow. veggin for 2 weeks and flowering for 8weeks.
