Is autoflower really faster indoors?

Ive always been curious, are autoflower strains capable of finishing faster from seed to harvest compared to a photo period strain that is started from seed at 12/12. Ive never grown an auto, but some of them claim to be 7 weeks from "seed to harvest" which is insane if thats truly how fast it is. If i take a photo period strain that has 7 week flower time and start the seed in 12/12, will it be just as fast?
 
Yes, but the auto will most likely end up way bigger because of how vigorous they grow & how you can keep them on a longer light cycle⚠️
 
You can start a photo on 12/12 from a little after seed bit you are going to end up with a small plant with minimal yield. No auto I've done has been 7 weeks. If anything I find they go a week or two longer than what's quoted by breeders.

True, autos can make use of 50% more light through flower. I was just curious since almost every youtube journal i see now is an indoor auto. Didnt know if it was a real advantage indoor or not, sounds like it is. Personally i prefer to spend a little more time to grow photoperiod monsters, but i think ill have to try this at least once.

7 weeks seed to harvest does sound nuts. I was on gelato last night to pick one out. They have 2 strains that claim to be 7 weeks seed to harvest. Candy cane (ak47/white widow/mango) and nyc diesel. Candy cane is a nice 21% thc and i like the parents so im gonna give that one a go in dwc, throw it in a 2x2 tent with 100watt mars cob. If i get 2-3 oz in 7-8 weeks, ill be very impressed. If anything can get it done that quick, i think dwc will be it

For an auto with an expected time of 7 weeks, what size of plant should i expect? Just trying to decide if i should do more than one in a 2x2 tent.

I wasnt counting on it, figured its unlikely. But why are multiple seed venders claiming false times? Gelato says 7 weeks "seed to harvest" for nyc diesel auto. Just found another vendor, same strain claiming 45-50 days "seed to harvest" which would suggest it could be as quick as 6 1/2 weeks. Are they all just straight up lying? Is it really impossible for "any plant" to go that fast seed to harvest?

Btw, im not arguing with you guys. I absolutely believe there is nothing that fast, im just curious why these reputable seed companies have to lie about. They really are stating it word for word "seed to harvest".
I do think "at least 10 weeks from seedling" is a bit of an overstatement though. Maybe for the average auto, but there has to be some faster than that. I grew thundefuck for 3 years in dwc. From a rooted clone i went 10 days in veg and 50 days in flower, 3 to 4 oz per plant. Very few amber, but definitely not immature. If a photo period can go rooted clone to done in 8 1/2, how can a fast autoflower need minimum 10? I realise thats still very far from 7 weeks seed to harvest, but minimum 10 from seedling sounds excessive for a fast autoflower

Yes 6.5-7 weeks seed to harvest is a flat out lie.

They lie to get sales. You bought some didn't you?
 
I grow auto flowers because everyone said how fast and easy they are. Well that's all a big lie for the most part. They are very finicky and difficult and not nearly as fast as advertised. The first plants I grew the breeder said ready in 60 days well I harvested at 90 and it could have gone 2 more weeks. autoflower.net is a good place for reasonably accurate info but there is a lot of misinformation being spread about auto's all around the internet

Pretty much this.

Although I've never seen any indication in any of the autos I've grown that they are any more "finicky" than photos.

More misinformation IMO.
 
In addition the different phenotypes and the in ability to reliably clone them means that if you are growing 4 plants of the same strain by the same breeder they can all be totally different and have different needs. this can be problematic if they are on a RDWC or some sort of integrated system. Your burning one plant and the other is underfed. I am grow 4 Fastbuds Orange Sherberts started same time on RDWC one is almost ready for harvest and is about a foot tall, the other is almost 5 feet tall and needs at least another month. Sometimes I regret doing autos.
 
When I started doing autos, I thought I would get very fast yields like 2 months. Oh what a fucking dumbass I've been. I don't like autos at all, I think they are more attractive for beginners. But you can use them to get some flower while vegging photos some people do that
 
No. You can veg a photo for 5 weeks I under 18/6 schedule and then flip to 12/12 for the same time frame as a auto.

Yeah i did, i already stated earlier i was going to give candy cane a try. I also stated i doubt its that fast. Is it really just so laughable to you that i bought some autoflower seeds to try out? You act like im just so gullible for buying the seeds. Do you believe i was ripped off by buying those seeds? Once again, i never stated i expected them to finish that fast. Im new to this site and the attitude of some of you guys is really off putting.
