Is it bad that I want to go to war?

I can see where you're coming from; if it's going to happen anyways, why not witness it first hand. I am against war in almost any circumstance, but that won't stop it from happening, so I myself have thought about experiencing the frontlines for myself. The most disastrous circumstances in ones life can often be some of the most worthwhile.

A contradiction in terms you are Atheist and ALREADY are unbelieving of any god..I doubt it will give you as greater understanding of geo politics being a footsoldier in the US army as it would do to research it..wanna go 2 war go it is your decision
It's not that I don't understand what I believe; you don't understand what testing your faith is. I think when bullets are whizzing by your head most people (even non-believers) take insurance with god and start praying or begging in their mind for safety. I want to see if I am that guy.

That sums it up. That is exactly how I feel.

thrtinr you get called on you do your duty... but to think that you want to see human suffering... that shit aint right.... in fact it is down right fucked... One day you will see shit that will make youquestion everything you thought you knew and believed in... then you are gonna know why vets normally only have serious conversations with other vets...

I have no ideological reasons for fighting - my survival is the most important thing to me. You hear news about it, see movies about it, hear songs about it. I want to go to see what it is like. I mean, I know it sucks worse than anything, it is a primitive act- BUT I want to see suffering like that - I know it will forever change me.
Dude, stick to COD4 and BF2.

War will change you, but not for the better.

I went because life was shit for me in the states. Some of my best memories and some of the worst was a result of that decision so think it through really well. When the shit hits the fan its really hard and you never really get over it,and at the same time you get letters with bad news and there isn't a fucking thing you can do about it.Ol lady's fucking around, deaths in the family, but on the other hand you gather memories and go places that only a few americans go.been to nagasaki, kilamanjaro, every county you can think of.If ya choose the army ya are pretty much going to the sandbox and every pic looks the same.If you do decide to go there are some things you need to know before you sign so hit me up and let me know what you're looking into.

Easy.

Go to Recruiter. Proceed to MEPS.

Request MOS 0311 (Marine Corps) or MOS 11B (Army).

You'll be in the shit in no time.

Best of luck.

"He who joyfully marches to music in rank and file has already earned my contempt. He has been given a large brain by mistake, since for him the spinal cord would suffice." Einstein
Do you find this quote the least bit ironic?

Einstein was involved in the Manhattan Project which developed the first nuclear bomb. These bombs subsequently killed 220,000+ people (Mostly Civilians) from the blast and high radiation levels; and many thousands more from the long term effects of radiation. His brain has done a lot of damage to the citizenry of Japan.

einsteins original goal was not to make a bomb, if you would actually read the letter... it was to make a renewable source of energy through achieving a nuclear chain reaction

war, no matter the reason or the actors, is the worst of humanity.
why one would eagerly pursue any involvement in war I cannot understand.
must be the foolishness of youth.
and yeah.
go marine corps 0311 or 0331 (heavy machine gunner).
you will be on the bloody tip of the spear.
i suggest you don't. you are right that it will change you forever, however you may not
like what you turn into.

I just found it amusing that someone so instrumental in war, had anything to say about how others choose to use the brain they are given.

No, I want to experience war and come out alive. Being an athiest, it would be a great test of conviction - I would find out in short order if I believed in God.
I can answer that for you already with a great quote,

"There are no atheists in foxholes"
