If your plants are small enough...simply move them out of the rental till the inspection is done...make sure grow equipment is removed from box
However, Leave the box in the place for so as not to raise suspicion for next time...Fill it full of stuff..
Now simply see how your landlord reacts...It does two things. First, it prepares him for next time so as to not raise suspicion...second, it will tell how nosey he/she is...it is not the least bit stealthy! If anything its size does raise suspicion..covering it with a tarp makes it look like you're hiding something.
Additionally..If landlord asks whats in the box..say just some personal stuff...say you like to have your personalS item in a closet so it doesnt look cluttered...If he asks to look in...You simply say okay with no hesitation...after he or she has looked in...wait for a bit and ask the landlord if they normally look through tenants personal stuff...? Gives a little pushback..and almost finger point creepy accusation for next time..don't make an issue of it.
if landlord as why its so tall...Say then it take up less square footage in rental..more efficient to stack up than sideways
This just helps you feel out and get an idea of what to expect from the landlord...and..prepares the landlord for finding this big box in the future without raising suspicion..
you'll have to do this for the next inspection as well..If he or she doesnt look in the box the second time..you might be fine...If you're in a region where its illegal to grow...You might want to make a habit of moving the plants with those tall moving boxes for hanging shirts and stuff prior to landlord coming for inspectition....
Think of the cabinet as simply a place to grow..when landlord comes...self preservation..move them out of the rental with boxes temporarily...Thats the occupational hazzard of growing in an appartment..
