Hello whoever is reading this. :) I think the cola on one of my plants is ready to be harvest. Is it ok to harvest JUST the cola by itself? If so, what's the best way of doing it? Is it better to harvest in the dark?

That looks sweet! I think you want to be harvesting the whole plant really. If you only take off the main cola you will probably stress the plant and it won't do a lot for the next few days. Thats my inexperienced guess anyway.
 
Just chop the whole thing. Worst case scenario you end up with slighly immature buds, but from the look of that plant even young buds will getcha lit. If the other buds look like that one you're definitely ready to harvest the whole plant.
 
you dont need to harvest in the dark, take a mag glass and look at the crystles and see if they are ready
 
ok. we're going to chop her but should we flush first? this is our first harvest ever so sorry if i ask stupid questions. :) Thanks for the help everyone.
 
I've heard if you chop too early it won't be as potent and if you wait too long to harvest it will lose it's potency. So if we flush today and have to wait a day or two is she losing potency by the day???
 
you should flush w/stright water for a 1 to 2 weeks prior to harvest. you dont have to, but it does change the taste and harshness a bit. (just my opinion)
as for partial harvest, I say it is ok. It will stop any growth for a couple of days, but i have done before to let some bottom nugs mature and it worked great.

she was fed Canna Terra Flores, Molasses, Seaweed Extract, and we use Canna PK 13/14 on her two times.

we are flushing her now. will another week be too long for her?

It'll be fine.. you want the trichs 60-40% (my choice) cloudy, amber..

I just noticed the cola on my plant is getting pretty dry...her bottom buds are still gooy...isn't this a bad thing? im worried if i wait another week she'll be dead. is it possible for the bud to be too ripe?
 
nice. what strain is that?

i flushed for 2 weeks. then left in darkness for 24 hours (should of been 48) then, hung an dried, then trimmed and cured.
 
and i dont know what u mean about gooey but when i harvested my 1st crop, the buds were extremely sticky until they dried out.

i would just try and flush for at least a week then chop her down, otherwise when u smoke ur bud, its gonna taste all chemically. yak!
 
Hey Smokeh, thanks! what i mean by "gooy" is sticky. My cola is etting very dry...im wondering can bud get too ripe and fuck it up? we flushed her today..im just hoping her cola can hang on atleast another week. what does leaving them in the dark do for them exactly?

She is some kind of kush. i was very happy to find seeds in that batch. kush rocks. :) i got her from a bag.

yes bud can get to ripe the thc will become some other chemical ...... wich makes you very very very sleeeeepyyy :)

Dunno, but yes you can over ripe them ^^ just like a chicken........ Not enough, it will be very juicy.... to much it will be bone dry :P
