Lightning is a huge static charge that builds up to the millions/billions of volts. It is Direct Current. Similar to the spark that jumps between you and the doorknob due to the potential difference between a positive you and the negative doorknob. Easier to do on dry days as moisture in the air will make the current dissipate through the humidity.I have a question to anyone that knows..
But wouldn't lightening be Direct Current? If so then Edison was a double fool.
