whats the color temperature? you want to use 6500k for veg and 2700k for flower. If it's anything else, its not going to work very well.

yes that is a cfl, it is ok to start with one of those for one plant but once it gets bigger keep adding more, have about five of those on it by the time you put it in 12-12

Yes it is. CFL stands for compact fluoerescent.
And yes, you can start with one but be prepped to add more.
And like "Pokes" asked, what is the K spectrum? For best results, you'll need 6500K for veg stage and 2700K for flower stage.

meh, probly be ok, but there's a reason everybody uses 2700k. :D
probably because the two most standard k ratings for cfl bulbs are 65 and 27, thus easier to find and generally cheaper, just a thought though. the 3000k rating is fine for flowering but for veg look for cool white(65k)

6500k and 2700k yes, they are standard color temperatures, but so is 3000k and 3500k and 5500k and 6000k and 7500k. Stores I frequent carry some or all of these color temperatures. When it comes to growing mj there's a big difference to the plant.

We are talking about the color temperature, measured in kelvins (K)
IMO use 6500k for veg, 2700k for flower or go home.

I should mention that you can do an entire grow using 2700k CFLs (red spectrum).

It is recommended that you use 6500k (blue) for veg, as it reduces stretching, but 2700s will still work fine if you can account for the stretch via training or flowering early.

Even red spectrum CFLs put out plenty of blue light by default, so the stretch isn't THAT severe in comparison. Just keep the bulbs as close to the plants as possible.

Obviously, if you can source blue spectrums you will have a slightly easier time of things, but if sourcing them is a problem, just go with the 2700s, as they are more widely available and generally much cheaper (at least in the UK).

somewhere on the box it would say what color temp it is....

if nothing else is the bulb white or yellow when u switch it on???
white/blue light ranges from 5000 k to 7500k
yellow light is closer to 1500k to 3000k

u want white light cfl's for veg and yellow light cfl's for flowering

thats good enough for veg...... gt 2-4 lights on each plant
keep lights as close to the tops as possible...

u will have to switch to yellow cfl's at flowering
u will need 2700 k lights

these numbers 2700 k, 6500 K are just a way of telling the color of the light... dont gt confused

your wrong kinda- spectrum is important but its not gotta be so exact, just use the right spectrum for the growing stage (red=flower, blue=veg, and=green=.....never use middle spectrum lights cuz they cant absorb it
