yea but tonic water is also co2 and everthing is air tight so the co2 isnt constantly coming out the co2 only when my air pump cuts on and fans cut off, almost like there are no holes in the cap at all. you know how tonic water will bubble until all the co2 is gone if its open well even though there is two holes in the lid I made them air tight so no leaks no c02 is wasted. But idk I could be wasting a bottle of tonic water for no reason.+rep anyway for stoping by.

Also how do I get my sig like yours where the details show but the link doesnt. How did you imbed the link to your grow in the detail for your grow I dont its hard to explain what Im trying to say you should know what I mean though hopefully if not then Im just retarded.

ok better way to explain it all I want people to be able to see is what is in red and be able to click on the red to take them to my journal ok sorry bout that Ive been smokin Blue Dream for the last two weeks since thats all thats around here right now and that shit will burn your brain out.

Me myself..

After screwing with home made contraptions.. and lots of them (I'm incredibly cheap, and I like to tinker).. for creating and dispensing CO2..

I am pretty much about ready to admit defeat on the home made jobbers.. I think, and it is just a guess, you would be better served by a 2 inch, 3 inch fan blowing air below the canopy, then you would having that above that canopy.

It's just a guess, I could be quite wrong.

I experimented with co2 my last grow and I believe that it made huge diffrence in the bud dencity since I was using CFLs and helped with my slight heat issues. Before I started using Co2 the buds were nice size but airy then after two weeks or so of using co2 the buds got hard as a rock and I yeilded more than what I expected off those two small plants like a 1oz or so but without co2 i probably wouldnt yeild a 1/2oz so I think its worth it. I only spent like 20min making this contraption and used aquarium tubing and goop glue so it cant hurt I dont believe.

Hi IgrowUgrow

I'm not discounting CO2, nor our experience.. although in our case it is possible the Bud's were going to get bigger quickly as they always do before harvest..

My only discount is in the home made CO2 devices..

You could could breath on your plants several times and put out as much CO2 than a yeast converter is going to.. they are not very efficient and smelly..

BUT, if it is working for you.. then it works for you.. I'd keep doing it..

Back when I first started I would take a CO2 air pistol and fill up plastic backs of CO2 with the air it discharged and drape it over the darn things.. so I understand tinkering.. if it works, it works. For me it was messy and smelly and I am trying to grow LESS quickly (my state only allows me so much cured at one time).. but that's just me.

Peace~!

Well I appreciate you stopping by and sharing your experience with me and I understand where your coming from with the smell sticky mess part but the way I have it set up now I dont have to shake the bottle and that was a big factor in mess. All I do is keep adding yeast and sugar to the mix and the air pump does the rest its all air tight like I said and there is no sticky goop leaking out. Last time I tried co2 it was a terrible sticky ass mess, I had to shake the bottle to disrupt the yeast and sugar to make co2 bubbles as much as possible 1 time I added to much yeast and the bottle erupted with bubbles that went all the way to the end of the hose and spilt all over my plants and light bulbs which was a huge fire hazard.:leaf:PEACE:leaf:

I use baking soda/vinegar for small scale enrichments but be careful: one time I did the SAME EXACT SHIT you did with shaking the bottle & shot baking soda charged vinegar all over my babies, burning them & poisoning my res. weak.

never even heard of using baking soda and vinagar, I wouldnt I dont think because the co2 is all gone as soon as the vinegar and baking soda mix, when you use yeast and sugar the yeast eats the sugar over time and slow releases co2 gas with the system Ive made the co2 is not released until my air pump cuts on. When the air pump cuts off after 15 mins the co2 starts building up inside the 2 litre bottle again then the process repeats itself. If the sugar and yeast is replaced every two weeks this can be very effective due to my research over the past few years experimenting and reading.

I use an aquarium hose gate valve shoved into a 1 liter bottle lid. it lets me regulate the drip when I flip it over & stick it on top of my cat litter container with a pile of baking soda in the bottom... like this. If you wanna get tech, you can drill a hole in top of the big container & run a hose to your fan...

I can regulate output according to heat & shit. Don't let the simplicity fool you; this is very effective for smaller areas; wouldn't try it large scale.

Looks like a pretty good idea. But were you meaning (in your first post there^^^) that you made one literally, or just made the plans up? If you have or do make one please take pics and share your results.
I tried just using the 2 liter w/ yeast and sugar but as another poster mentioned it gets messy and smelly and becomes more of a hassle than it seems to be worth. But your idea would seem to solve most of that problem along w/ concentrating the co2 to a specific area. I think it's a great idea if it actually works. +rep

I mean I havent used it yet but I know that it would work exspecially better than a plain bottle of yeast and sugar that you have to shake up every day and get sticky with. Its pretty much like a co2 tank with a regulater on it hooked to a timer. And yes I do have pics of the one I made check out my new grow journal there is pics of the whole setup.

also something else I didnt think about is that yeast can develope mould spores and you dont want mould spores being spread across the top of your plants thats another reason why the tonic water is good because it can be used to filter the co2 of any impurities and then also make co2 itself. I believe tonic water is cheap you can probably get a whole 20 pack of tonic water bottles just like regular water bottles. That would last the whole grow just replace the bottle once a week. Or if you want to just say f it and double up the co2 by adding yeast and sugar to the tonic water bottle also then go for it just be sure to let me know what works best for you.

I am only on my second harvest, but I use the sugar/yeast thing also. Mine is a little jankedy, but I have not had any problems... yet. The mold thing can be taken care of with these stopper things they make just for brewing, they are like 2 bucks (I havent gotten one yet lol). Just make sure you have a way of getting it in your canopy. I was lucky (or kinda unlucky over all as to why) that I had my lights cooling fan on the floor. I just put the half gallon jug (with a small hole in the cap) directly infront of the fan so any CO2 gets pulled directly into the fan, then dispersed ffrom the back of my hood, which is right over the top of the plants. Since I started using the fan (took me a month to realize it) It seems to be going much better, but it could also be that I just did a much better job this grow and am rotating my plants and they are directly under the light (my first grow, most of it grew past the light and were to big to rotate in my room).

I've been curious about this myself, how efficient is this? I mean does anyone know what kind of ppm it produces?

I have used co2 in my past grow and I am pretty possitive it helped make my buds way more dence, I use cfls and most of the time the problem with cfls is the buds are fluffy and airy instead of dence and firm. But I had 4-26w 2700k and 1- 42w 2700k over the top of my Sour Diesel, and bagseed and the buds were hard as hell I shook my bottle of yeast and sugar everytime my lights come on like twice a day and I noticed a diffrence in bud dencity within the first week of using co2. I have no idea what ppm it produces but from what I have experimented with in the past with co2 this seem to be the cheapest cleanest most practical way to get co2 to your plants... so if you would like to see the results of what this baby can do come check out my new journal the link is in my sig, I will be using this Diy co2 in few weeks when I start the flower cycle.:leaf:
