Islam: Evil or misunderstood

What?

I think you're confused. The Bible is composed of two sections, one is the Old Testament which is various stories and history. The New Testament is the story of Jesus Christ's life viewed by his apostles. The new was meant to replace the old.
IF you believe that Christ was the son of god and not just another Apostle(don't know if thats the right word) like Muhammad *sp, Mathew, Paul, etc.

Aren't we supposed to learn from those stories and history? Thats just another way religion makes you believe their way is the right way!

Either way the bible is full of shit just like any other religous book, it's all perception of man, which is falable.

Pope: Global warming assessment must be based on ‘science not dogma’

And now there has been a 'breakthrough' in Bali, with the administration of President Bush apparently conceding on the matter and now joined by Australia’s new Prime Minister Kevin Rudd, there is an inexorable spiritual drive to inculcate the population of the world with the worship of Mother Earth, to indoctrinate with the dogma of Gaia, against which the Pope alone declares: 'Here I stand. I can do no other. God help me.'

The Bible says to love your neighbor. No where in there does it say find everyone who is not like you and kill them. It is man that is corruptible, not God.
So does the Quran

and if you want, its easy to make the bible look violent as well

1) In Leviticus 25:44-46, the Lord tells the Israelites it's OK to own slaves, provided they are strangers or heathens.

2) In Samuel 15:2-3, the Lord orders Saul to kill all the Amalekite men, women and infants.

3) In Exodus 15:3, the Bible tells us the Lord is a man of war.

4) In Numbers 31, the Lord tells Moses to kill all the Midianites, sparing only the virgins.

5) In Deuteronomy 13:6-16, the Lord instructs Israel to kill anyone who worships a different god or who worships the Lord differently.

6) In Mark 7:9, Jesus is critical of the Jews for not killing their disobedient children as prescribed by Old Testament law.

7) In Luke 19:22-27, Jesus orders killed anyone who refuses to be ruled by him.

You are very very mistaken

So does the Quran
Quran-
"Now when you meet the unbelievers, smite their necks until you overcome them fully..."(47:4).

"Slay the pagans wherever you may come upon them, and take them captive, and besiege them, and lie in wait for them at every conceivable place..." (9:5).

1) In Leviticus 25:44-46, the Lord tells the Israelites it's OK to own slaves, provided they are strangers or heathens.
Slavery was a very common thing then, and it was required to sustain civilizations. That was the Old Testament, thats how life was then.

2) In Samuel 15:2-3, the Lord orders Saul to kill all the Amalekite men, women and infants.
God said destroy because nothing less would cease the turmoil in that region. Saul did not, he spared them, and we have that mess in that part of the world today thanks to him.

3) In Exodus 15:3, the Bible tells us the Lord is a man of war.
Interpretation and translation boggles this one. It means that he is a warrior.

4)In Numbers 31, the Lord tells Moses to kill all the Midianites, sparing only the virgins.
Wrong. The Lord tells him to slay all the males. Moses wanted the women who lain with men dead and all the children who are males slain.

5) In Deuteronomy 13:6-16, the Lord instructs Israel to kill anyone who worships a different god or who worships the Lord differently.
Well kind of. If you have read the Bible, you know that the people of Israel constantly get in trouble, and God keeps punishing and forgiving them. This verse is right after God rescued them from Egypt and he told them not to worship false idols, and he means it. This did not apply to Israel vs the rest of the world, just jews among themselves. But sure enough, right after all this, they constructed a golden idol and started to worship. Moses was so shocked and pissed that he broke the tablet of the 10 commandments.

6) In Mark 7:9, Jesus is critical of the Jews for not killing their disobedient children as prescribed by Old Testament law.
"And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition."

It was tradition to eat bread with dirty hands. He was pissed that they follow man-made traditions over commandments. The next verse was honor thy mother and they father. Not sure where you come up with this accusation.

7) In Luke 19:22-27, Jesus orders killed anyone who refuses to be ruled by him.
It was a parable. The character in the parable was a king, and any king in this world kill their enemies.

The Old Testament was filled with violence and war. The New Testament was to replace the old, because frankly, humanity cannot adhere to the simple 10 commandments. There was no way we could save ourselves, so we had to have a savior. The Old and New testament are very different philosophies.

I was waiting for that.

I think you may be starting to see my point. Those who say Islam or the Quran or Islam is inherently violent then defend Christianity and the Bible as being peaceful, cannot hide their obvious discrimination.

It is very easy to make the bible look violent and the quran peaceful, or the other way around.

The reality is, neither are, those bible versus i posted are taken out of context, just as the versus from the quran are, neither religion is inherently violent

I think this is really beside the point. It is true that all three religions have history of violence and even advocate violence in the scriptures.

What is relevant is how those scriptures are being applied in our modern world.

When Christians misbehave, other Christians are often the first to react with outrage. Abortion related violence is a good example.

Israel is subject to criticism from within and from the West all the time.

My fear stems from the absence of outrage from the Islamic world when the jihadists misbehave.

Thats the thing, when i borrowed the Quran my friends father spoke to me. He is Palestinian and he said "Don't let the ignorance and acts of extremest cloud your opinion on Islam. It is a peaceful religion that people minipulate to suite thier 'religious cause'."

The Islamic people don't condone the Jihad of these extremist and don't believe the will go to heaven, as their actions weren't in the name of Allah.

Interesting you say that.

Through all of your posts ive seen you make many claims, stating them as fact, when in reality they are your own opinion. You have yet to cite one credible source yet you sit there and claim others are moronic.

In a real debate, which this is supposed to be, people back up statements with sources and citations.

Codeine and I have pretty much exact opposite viewpoints, yet I respect him as intelligent because he back his statements up with sources.

Thank you:joint:
Gee, I guess people dead in the streets, reported by all news agencies is not really credible sourcing? So I was wrong to say Islam is evil.

The point is he lied to you. That is how it always works with them. Lie today, then blow someone up tomorrow. Next time talk to some Christians and Jews from the region and see what they have to say. Ask them if it is a peaceful religion.

I'm just waiting for "Those fuckin sand-niggers" to come out of your mouth, i'm sure it does. . . ... .Just because you are dumb, and cannot grasp what is outside of your little bubble.
Its ok Mockingbird. You're mind doesn't have the capacity to grasp the fact that there are things in the world other than what you think.

Sirat Al-Baqarah *The Cow*
Alif-lam-mim [These letters are one of the miracles of the Qur'an and no one but allah (God) knows their meanings.]
This is the book whereeof there is no doubt, a guidance to those who are Al-amuttaqun [the pious believers of Islamic Monotheism who fear Allah much (abstain from all kinds of sins adn evil deeds which he has forbidden) and love Allah much (perform all kinds of good deeds which He has ordained).]
Who believe in the Ghaib *literally means things not seen* perform As-Salat *prayer in the traditional way* and spend out of what We have provided for them [i.e. give Zakat, spend on themselves, their parents their children, thier wives, and also give charity to the poor adn also in Allah's Cause -Jihad]

Zakat: A certain fixed proportion of the wealth and of every kind of the property liable to Zakat of a muslim to be paid yearly for the benefit of the poor in the Muslim community. The payment of Zakat is obligatory as it is one of the five pillars of Islam. Zakat is the major economic means for establishing social justice adn leading the Muslim society to prosperity adn security

Yep your right......sound real evil!
