Quran-
"Now when you meet the unbelievers, smite their necks until you overcome them fully..."(47:4).
....But if it had been Allah's will, he himself could cerainly have punished them (without you). But (He lets you fight) in order to test some of you with others."
Thats what was after that.

"Slay the pagans wherever you may come upon them, and take them captive, and besiege them, and lie in wait for them at every conceivable place..." (9:5).
(9:6) And if anyone of the Mushrikun (polytheist, idolaters, pagans, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah) seeks your protection then grant him protection so that he may hear the word of Allah and then escort him to where he can be secure, that is because they aer men who know not.

The Catholic Church is evil. The Christian religion has its left and right and right and wrong. So does Islam. Most Americans tend to forget there are different kinds of Islam. Islam is not free of the disease of misinterpretation but neither is Christianity. If Americans knew more about either of the two religions they would realize that radical Islam is like the KKK of Christianity. Some people wont acknowledge that the KKK even existed. Americans do not have the market cornered on ignorance and hate. Other people have beliefs and believe that only theirs are correct. However not all Islam is what the media leads you to believe. Islam is in reality has a rich history. While Europeans were mired in the dark ages, Arab scientists were figuring out a system of measurement and geography. In the tenth century A.D. Al Maqdisi described the earth with 360 degrees of longitude and 180 degrees of latitude. Yes, this was nearly 400 years before Columbus supposedly discovered the earth was round by not falling off the face of it.

Censorship courtesy of the fear of offending Islam. Coming to a bookstore near you.
The Jewel of Medina is not the first instance in which as Islamic themed artistic work has stirred controversy and threats of violence. Thirty years ago, Syrian film maker Moustapha Akkad made a movie about the life of the Prophet Muhammad entitled The Message. Even though, acceding the Muslim sensibilities, Muhammad never actually appears in the film, a rumor that Charlton Heston would star as the Prophet caused riots in Pakistan.

Johnny I cant believe your talking about censorship when in many countries talking about the Holocaust results in jail time. I think you forgot to mention that
It's beside the point. I'm really not concerned with other countries where no First Amendment exists.

I'm talking about our country. This is happening in the United States of America. I can't believe you discount that.

I am against censorship of any kind. When the situation you describe occurs in the U.S., please let me know.

Please do not presume to dictate to me my own sensibilities.

There is no First Amendment in France. Once again, beside the point.

I own a copy of the Koran and I fond a lot in it that contradicts it's self.

But then again so does the Christian bible.

there are no contradictions in the Quran, maybe you just cant understand whats its saying.. Quran is written in arabic so you cant study it through its translations.. unless you have some kind of PH.D in the arabic language or you studied arabic literature, what your saying is not true..

No, you're an Islamic apologist who thinks America is in the wrong and you need to get your head straight. That's all.....
I love people who make claims about things, especially when they have NO CLUE what they are talking about.

FGM is an absolute cultural thing and has nothing to do with religion. The Christians in Egypt also do the same thing at the same ratio that the Muslim women do it. There is no stance on female circumcision in the Qur'an and no reliable ones in the Sunnah or the Hadith.

There is no issue with "censorship" in this problem. It is strictly forbidden to show any picture of the Prophet in any way shape or form. America has let more then enough things with the prophet muhammad depicted (i.e South Park), so obviously this was an isolated incident which could have more reasons to is ban then any of us will ever now.

I think this is really beside the point. It is true that all three religions have history of violence and even advocate violence in the scriptures.

What is relevant is how those scriptures are being applied in our modern world.

When Christians misbehave, other Christians are often the first to react with outrage. Abortion related violence is a good example.

Israel is subject to criticism from within and from the West all the time.

My fear stems from the absence of outrage from the Islamic world when the jihadists misbehave.
You are so blinded my American media it is out of control. Do a little research please. Even the Grand Ayatollahs of Iran terrorism.

The fact remains: The book was pulled for fear of a Muslim backlash. America, home of the First Amendment. One 'isolated incident' is one too many.
The novel, "The Jewel of Medina", by US journalist Sherry Jones, was supposed to be released this month. But Random House decided to pull the book, after advice that the book "might be offensive" to some Muslims, and "could incite acts of violence by a small, radical segment."
