Jakes first grow

well about a month ago i got the idea to grow. i stumbled upon rollitup got signed up and in no time at all i was growing. its my first grow ever i am a uber rookie and need help around every bend of the stretch. but i think with all of your help and a little luck i could be succesfull.

this is a picture of my grow box. five cfl daylight bulbs in a rubbermaid three drawer shelf. and some panda film taped up around the whole thing. [/IMG]

ok guys well i made a few mistakes with these seedlings around day 12 my plants had hit a major growth stunt. the main thing was i planted the germintated seeds in a pile of mud i had purchased at walmart. also the lights i had were insuficient to grow. so i switched from daylight cfls to a 2ft 2 bulb t-5 . i also transplanted the seedlings into a sunshine growing mix and sprinkled a little foxfarm ocean forest potting soil on top so as not to burn the roots. they have started to grow again and most of them look pretty healthy.

week 4- and they are looking good. i have a steady tempurature at about 65f. the soil i transplanted them in seems to be doing really well. as of right now they have no yellow on any of the leaves (knock on wood). now its kind of exciting just to sit back and watch them grow... however now would be a good time to ask, when should i think about applying nutes? also i have been thinking about starting some low stress training and i guess i need to think about topping or pruning the plants. problem is i know very little about low stress training and topping, if anyone could elaborate that would be awesome.

alright guys and gals here is a few days after week five. the plants roots are growing out of the bottom of the pots. this is a bad thing for me becasue i dont have enough rom to transplant them into bigger pots. but none the less im going to the hydro store tomarow to get some bigger pots and think about how i a can customize my grow room to accomadate bigger plants. well tell me what you think. there are two plants that are stunted and i think are having some sort of nute diffincency. the rest are doing damn fine.

Space is always such an issue. Wish we all had a nice room, just for growing.

lol yeah it would make life alot easier for all the apartment farmers like myself out there! im even thinking about flowering them in a couple of weeks because if they get much bigger. i wont be able to accomadate them in there final weeks of flowering.

you could flower now if your space is to limited, remember your plant will triple in size after flowering, like a boner, that thing will shoot up there. Think of this and look at your flowering chamber.

yeah i would like to start flowring but i need to save a little bit of money and buy a 400 watt hps. i plan on flowering only the females and and keeping one male in vegg so i can breed later. so ill be taking clones and flowering the clones in order to sex them. also i need to find the space and make a flowering room.!!

-week 6- hi everybody! well i talked my girlfriend into letting me use the bigger part of the walk in closet for my grow. the room is about 4'x4' so its still not much but this way ill be able to build a vegg chamber below and put the flowering chamer on top. this will be quite an exstensive project for me that will probably take a week or so. ill make the vegg chamber 27 inches tall and hang my t-5 fixture in there. i will hang panda film all around both chambers in order to block any light from interupting each others cycles.
this is where i will keep one mother plant and i will also place clones in here as well. along with 1 father plant if i have room. (hoping for atleast two females). i am going to order a 400watt hps system from htgsupply in about a week or so maybe longer depending on my financial situtation. my flowering room has the rest of the room to itself so the flowering chamber will be a little less than five feet tall i plan on flowering up to four plants at one time under this 400watt hps. i would like to ventilate with a squrrel cage fan or an inline fan and have atleast one carbon filter. the problem with the ventilation is that i dont have a way to vent the stagnent air outside. of coarse unless i cut a whole in the wall. and given the fact that i rent an apartment that doesnt sound like a good idea. so does anyone have any idea how i can vent all of the built up heat from the lights without cutting through any walls?

what do think about the whole idea. am i heading in the right direction or do i need to re think how i will be doing this. i intend to build all of this by fabricating a wooden frame out of 2x4's and plywood.

week six
aside from my flowering chamber project. my plants are still doing well. they badly need to be transplanted because the roots are all growing out of the pots. i have 2 gal circle containers that i bought today that i will transplant them in. i will put them in a potting soil mix that consists of 30% sunshine soilless mix and 70% ocean forest potting soil. and i bought some botanicare pure blend nutrients today and will start weening them on that starting next week in order to help the transition into flowering. the ratio of the formula is 1.5%nitrogen, 4.o% available phosphate,5.0% potash,1.0% calcium,0.5 magnesium,
the guy at the hydro store said that will be the basic shit i need to help them have a good quality flowering cycle.

project begins
well i have a fucking mess of a Grow room right now. im kinda pissed! the plants are growing so rapidly now its crazy. i dont have long befor ill be forced to flower! i dont know what to do i need more goddamn room. well here is a couple pics. i hope they keep growing to be big strong girls!!!

Fucked up
yesterday night the little cfl clip i had attached to the rubermaid mess i have was pulled off of its little grip there by one of my curious cats. i didnt notice for an hour or so and it was laying on top of one of my healthier plants.i was so upset......... (dont worry i didnt go nuts on my cat. it wasnt his fault he just loves it when i have my plants out in the open.) but none the less the top growth was burnt beyond recognition as well as some of the fan leafs. this was somewhat of a blessing. because i got a chance to practice topping and a little bit of pruning. unfortunatly my plant is in shock so we will see if it makes it!! ill post pictures later tonight.

bought the 400watt hps
it was only a $143 bucks after shipping at htgsupply.com obviously its the cheap one. but it has bulb,ballast, and reflector. hope it gets here soon i know some people here have been having trouble with them.
