i have effectivley slowed the growth down by using the t-5 AND only four daylight blue spectrum 14 watt cfls to vegg. watering only every 4-5 days and keeping the temp at a steady 65 degrees. they are still healthy but growing slowly. as soon as my hps comes in ill be flowering some clones. i have two plants that have really outgrown the rest and are over 14 inches in height i hope they are girls. but i have two other plants that are about 10 inches in height and are looking very good i hope they are girls too!! the other two are doing well too but they are definatly the runts.

well im having some trouble with my clones.. i soaked them in hormex rooting hormone for fifteen minutes. i than placed the cuttings in rapid rooters that i had also soaked in rooting hormone. i placed them on a tray and put them under a 400watt hps.. i do have a t-5 i could put them under but i dont have any room to set up a cloning chamber.. let me know where you think i went wrong?

:leaf:day 12 flowering:leaf:
well i have the plants on a 12/12 cycle from 9pm to 9am every day. the two fastest growing and largest plants were males:cry: so i cut them down and disposed of them. as far as the sex on the other four... i have one big strong beautiful female whose buds are starting to form and the pistels are visible from a mile away. i have another female that i was using as my experiment plant because shes the one the cfl fell on a couple weeks ago.. the other two.. i think one is a female and the other a male. but they are not showing enough for me to tell yet so i will wait patiently. getting rid of the males freed up alot of room for the remianing plants so they have plenty of room to soak up the light and fresh air. they look healthier than ever and i am really happy that i have atleast one female. unfortunaly the clones i took off of her have died. so i will have to start my next grow from scratch.... oh well. as far as the nutes go.. i have started feeding them the organic nutrients with each watering... they look great and the buds are definatly responding. i will post pics so you can see the female ( her name is Freedom) later today... on another note my hps bulb from htgsupply burnt out already lol i had to go to home depot and buy a replacment. i was so pissed !!! but htg is going to replace it under warranty so its all good.. thanks you for reading and your comments!!! happy growing!

so i erased the pictures of the males i chopped on accident, but i have a really good picture showing the difference between a plant that was topped six weeks into vegging and a really good picture of a plant that has not been topped. the plant thats been topped has four large growth shoots instead of just the one kola.. freakin sweet!!!! i will top all of my plants from here on out.. pictures comming when i get home tonight!!!

:leaf: Need Help :leaf:
well my previous clones did not take root and died. i am pretty bummed becasue i had about four female clones.. my question is . can you take clones from plants that have been flowering. and if so what rooting hormone should i use and should i just treat it like any other clone or should i take special precautions to get them to take root? i have read alot of posts and heard alot of different opinions on this. i know its not benificial to take clones from a flowering plant but i want to know if it can be done. and i would really like to know if you think its worth it. i mean if i am going to be taking a clone from a flowering female, thats bud that will be lost come harvest time. so if theres only like a 20% chance the clone will make it i dont even think it would be worth it. but what do you all think?

once again thanks for reading your feedback is always appreciated!!

I'm no expert so someone might wanna confirm this, but what I believe is that if you take a clone from a flowering plant it'll take at least a few weeks under lights for it to return to its vegatative state.

With this in mind, as well as the fact you're getting a reletively low success rate with your cloning, I'd says its probably gonna be more beneficial to Germ up some fresh seeds.

Any up to date pics of the ladies to come?

yeah you bring up a good point. im still pondering if i should or not.... it couldnt hurt to experiment. quick update on the plants i am still sexing the other to plants... i think one of them is a hermie and the other is possibly a female... still cant tell though!!

:leaf:week 4 i think:leaf:

so the tips of the leafs on most of my plants are turning yellow think it may be nute burn! what do you all think?

also the fourth picture is a good example of a plant that has been topped and had 4 main kolas and a plant that has not been topped and only has one!!

naa thats not nute burn. sometimes ur tips will just change color during flowering bcuz of the phosphorus thats being used up.

whats the NPK of the flowering ferts that ur using?
are u feeding full strength?
are u ph'ing ur water?

I noticed the "curling" of ur leaves also, what are ur temps like and whats ur ventilation setup?

lol well the ventilation system consists of a single oscillating fan.!!! i would love to be able to ventilate with a passive intake working exhaust sytem with an inline fan rated for about 340cfm and a carbon filter... but i rent an apartment and i cant cut through the wall or door so im S.O.L with the ventilation. the humidity is a little higher than id like it to be... usually around 60% idealy i want 40%... but thats all a dream!!! the temp isnt too bad though around 75-80 degrees steady!!! the npk is 1.5-4-5 botanicare organic nutrient pro blend.

i hope your not fertilizing every watering...only do that every 3 waterings to be safe and when it gets down to the home strech lets say..2 weeks left to go...only water...cause it make the buds taste to chemicaly otherwise...and its natural for your plants to use its own reserves in the leaf color towards the end.

aight guys so i really need to pin this problem down.. it has got to be a ph fluxuation problem.. the yellow spots are all over the leafs on all the plants and the leafs them selfs have gotten really skiny and droopy..

what can i do to help these guys out.. do they just need a good flush and some watering without any nutes for a while or what? any suggestions are appreciated..

Hey thanks for checkin out my grow. I'm now subscribed to yours as well. It sucks you are having some probs right now. I had ph issues as well, only in hydro. Have you tested your soil ph? I would think stopping the ferts for now and a good flush could only help and not hurt at this point? So i would do that and then let them alone a few days and see if the prob gets better. Thats just me thought and I'm no expert! Good luck!!

yeah thats essentially my plan... the buds on my plants ive noticed are smaller than they should be too. probably a product of the ph flux ... oh well... i was pissed about it at first but than i remebered this is my first grow!! this can only serve as information for the next grow.. ya know!! thanks for subscribing brother!!

:leaf:Day 38 flowering:leaf:

-ok so in an effort to figure out the problem i flushed all three plants with 2 gallons of distilled water each.

-They have recieved no nutrients or waterings in 2 days.

-I plant to keep them off the nutrients for about another week.

-I dont know what cal-mag is, but i was told by a few people that my plants look like they need it since i am watering using R/O... anyone care to elaborate?

-on top of that ive noticed that the buds are very small for their age. i am on day 38 and compared to some pictures on rollitup my plants dont compare! im wondering if there is a way to fix that!

-picture update tonight of the flushing and the buds! 2/25/08.
