But I should have covered the roots right away.
When I got home from being out today at 2pm, I checked the plants and the roots of the girls in the covered res are about a half inch in the water... the others, not in the water yet. So yea,,, I think I lost a few days of root growth.... oh well. Best way to learn is to do it, and I learned how much light hurts roots... good lesson.
I didn't think it would matter that much as the light isn't that powerful and the roots were being shaded from direct light, but I guess even reflected light is enough.... you'd think roots were designed to be underground or something???
We are running pretty different setups, but Smoote1987 has a screen grow using DWC as well, only his is attached to the lid. You should check his journal.... I think I am going to be moving in that direction in the future.
I like having one tank... only one thing to worry about. I just made sure to have netting separating the roots from eachother. That way if something like a death occured I could remove that plant without taking half the other plants' roots with it. I also like one tank becuase it is less complex... I like clean.
About the 4' space, a screen would be perfect as it would manage the height. Just make sure everything will fit. First there is your media (dwc, soil, coco). So there is that height off the floor. Then you'll need at least 8" (in my opinion) between the medium and the screen... Then the plants may grow 3-4" above the screen (unless you over grow it like me, I have some that are 16" above the screen). Then you need space between the plants and the light.... this really depends on the light and the cooling of it. I have 650w and can keep that 5" off the plants... if I didn't cool it, there would probably be a need for 24" or more. So that is big. Then you have your light... hopefully it is low profile.
Hey, after all that talking I realized you should maybe think about going vertical... It would help with the height problem, as you could use all the height above the meduim for growth, you would only use 'side' room for the light. Is your closet wide???
Anyways, the journal I told you to check, smoote's is vertical... might be even better for you.

Yes, it does... and thanks to my trial with the clear I can see exactly how much it hurts the roots. Last night real late I covered the one reservoir pretty good. Just leaving a bit uncovered on the side to see the roots and bubbles. It was getting on to 3am so I had to cut covering the other res short.

I use Dutch Master Zone... it is supposed to serve the same purpose I think.
This is easily solved by attaching the screen to the reservoir lid. My design is flawed becuase of what you mention... if my tank busted a leak or something, I would be totally screwed. If the screen was attached to the lid of the res I could just remove the lid/ plant/ screen in one motion (don't trip, haha). Set that aside somewhere and work on the res... does that make sense.

This is debatilbe I think. Here's the pros and cons in my mind. If you have separate tanks (like my clear bubblers) then you have 3 choices... 1 mix enough nute solution for all the reserviors at once, then dump in each. 2 mix enough for each container at once, but your nutes will be at slightly differnt levels 3 connect all the reservoirs to one serparate main res, and you pump the nute solution to each. This is the best, but most complex construction. The last is also the best becuase of the res volume. With little separate ones your ph will fluctuate much faster as there is less water and chemicals to bufffer. Also you will be measuring smaller quantities making mistakes in measuring more costly. With one res system your water temps, ph, ppm will be much more stable.

Just over 2.5 years. Still a honeymoon. I think it always will be. We found eachother on Craigslist (no joke). She posted looking for an educated redneck, and I sent a reply that said 1. I don't have a car 2. I smoke a ton of pot 3. I'm 3 years younger than you. I said other things too, but figured if she could deal with those things she could deal with me.
We've done a lot of marriage counselling (even before we were married). Not so much becuase we were fighting, but because we moved really fast (moved in after 2 monthes, engages after 6 mo. and married about a year after meeting). We discovered that councelling was great for us. And her insurance covers it, so we only pay $12 or something. It's great, like happy marriage practice.
Boiling it all down, I think the key to a happy marriage is communication and honesty... you should be able to and regularly practice telling eachother anything. And when you do share it should be totally honest, or else what's the point. You can be friendly with people at work or school, marriage is a team thing. Sometimes being teammates means you aren't happy with eachother, and not necessarily nice to eachother, but you are always working on the same goal, and that has to be remembered when talking or otherwise.
I know you just asked how long, but I thought I'd throw some extra tips out there. If there is one thing I feel comfortable giving out advice on, it's marriage.
OH.... One more thing.... I think this is the real sign. I am a fan of girls. I fell in love a lot, they were my focus. Not like I was some player, I was a good boy, just that they took a lot of my attention and emotion. Anyways, previously when I get to know a girl, or met her, whatever... the feeling I would get was like a super rush. Really exciting... like finding out you won something. I'd just fall for them and would get all wound up (in a good way).
When I met my wife, it was totally different. I can still remember calling my mom the next day and telling her how it felt. It felt like coming home. Like when you've been out all day doing something really stressful and you finally get home that night and take off your shoes and get a drink (and a smoke) and plop on the couch, or chair. That feeling of letting a breath out and thinking... "ahhh, finally.... I've been waiting for this for a long time" That is the feeling I got when I met her. Not really exciting or exhilerating, but RIGHT. I have never felt anything as right in my life.
So before you get to the communication and honesty thing, make sure it's Love and not whatever that other thing is.
Sorry if I bored anyone. But too bad, haha.

9 years with my current future Ex, it has been uphill, good years/bad years, but in the long run, like jiggy said, honesty is the most needed. (not the "do these pants make me look fat" No Hunny, you make the pants look too small type honesty. but it is well worth it, to always know some1 is there to watch your back.

Do you have any links to info on getting a card? A good doctor? We may be heading west sooner than expected so I'm starting to look for info to do everything nice and legal when I get there.

There are a ton... they are everywhere... You are going to need documentation from a doctor/ medical professional you are seeing now. For example if you have a form or anything that says your diagnosis that should work. The more documentation the better. Call and ask prices... some are half as much as others. You should plan on paying about $100-120, good for one year, then you renew for less, like $80-90. Then to go to a store you bring your original paper from the 215 doc, and an ID. The store will call the doc to confirm, take a copy of your paper and id, then you will be let back to shop.

I think the biggest question I have is do I have to go to a regular dr and be daignosed and get my medical records and then I go to a doctor that gives out cards?
or
Can I just go to the 1 doc that gives out the cards to be diagnosed and be given the card?

1 - you have to see a regular doctor, psychiatrist, counselor, chiropractor, accupuncturist, etc... pretty much anyone that has some license to say you have stress, illness, pain, etc.
If you want to be sure... get some sort of documentation... then call some of the 215 docs and ask if the documentation is alright. Some of the 215 docs are more serious than others.... I'm sure some would give you a card for almost nothing, others actually care about medicine.

The little clones are looking good. They are all developing nice little roots and devoleping new growth on top all the time. There are a couple lower branches that are 3" long with 5 or 6 nodes on them (is a node one leaf, or two leaf 'sets').
