My mom was never a "good" cook...she used to make the beans and sometimes toss little bits of bacon in them.As the bacon boiled, it became slimy,and I would gag on the little bits of bacon.

My dad was full czech so we gravitated towards greens and noodles more than beans.... an unintentional favor to a growing child... beans... bleh.

I can eat Hoppin John's beans JO... might good....

Hoppin' John with lots of Louisiana hot sauce, collard greens, skillet fried taters, sliced fresh tomaters & onion, and cornbread. Washed down with sweet iced tea in a mason jar.

Good vittles - Southern style.

My mom raised me on New England food, which meant boiled or fried, but I never saw a black eyed pea or collard green or cornbread till I was 20 years old! I immediately knew I had missed out on some awesome food and never looked back....

new england food is great! as long as its not irish...

ive had enough split pea, lima bean, corned beef stew to last a fucking nightmare
my dad was a big fan of the depression food...



on a side note today is my first day quitting smoking cigs.
it fucking sucks
it really fucking sucks!
someday, i'll look back and think that this was one of the best things i had ever done for myself. someday...
right now im kicking myself in the ass cause i want nicotine :cuss:

Have you ever tried fried green tomatoes? They're delicious!
I highly recommend you let me give you a recipe if your cook is missing one for it!

Quite the delicious veggie snack to eat with sour cream or salsa!
