Ok i wired it, and it works, i tried with an extra 42 watt bulb i had on hand. Now if i could just figure out the best way to hang it. I am thinking about using the board and chain idea. I'll pick up some hooks when im board shopping.
i think the board and chains are the best bet, it works well for me, good job. hey, check out my new veg box, pics are up in my thread.

You could try 2 42watters in the center and use 4 23watters on the sides. That'll give u a little more light penetration without producing too much heat, plus without that reflector in there it will probably drop temps a bunch. Just a thought, but I think you'll like the new light once done.

The problem with that is is a 60 watt max socket. so i cant use two of the 42's or id overload the socket. I have to use all 23 watt bulbs so i can stay under in my wattage.. I plan to hit home depot tomorrow and get the bulbs, hooks and a board roughly 1 X2 X18 inches and (6) 23 watt 2700k bulbs that stays under 60 watts total and still gives me more light than i have now with the (3) 42's.

what that does to the heat, remains to be seen.

if im not mistaken, thats 3 x 60 on the wattage for this fixture, thats 180 watts total, but im not sure. one thing tho, were already running 138 watts with the 6-23 watters, if you did replace the 2 center bulbs with the 42 watters, that would be a total of 176 watts, might just work. just was looking on lowes site for the info, and the splitter are rated at 660 watts, so problem there. something to think about. now the heat, thats another subject, LoL.

Yeah, it aint hard try it out if you feel the need.

Bud shots look sweet by the way. Can't see her pack on the weight!

I am gonna try and get some pics in the sun sometime of how I trained mine to spiral around herself, and cross over herself.

Im not expecting a large yield, its a small plant. If you would like to see other pictures just let me know. I love excuses to take pictures of my plant.

i dont see how i could pull off 84 watts from a 60 watt socket.

I have a question, should i pick up a disposable turkey pan from the dollar store or go without a reflector? wont the reflector do the same thing as my current reflector does?

Maybe you could use the windshield reflectors, and maybe use rigid plastic, cut from whatever you may have laying around, to make a light reflector. Something like a kite, with a little bend in the center. Does that make since? Yeah, the turkey pan would be like your current reflector but not as bad.

i have a huge amount of IR blocker material left, I was thinking about lining the root of the cabinet with it since removing it made no difference in temps... I had been waiting until i remove the light so i can install the IR blocking material completely inside the cabinet. do you think that would be enough reflection or would a reflector be absolutely necessary?

thats why i ended up cutting mine off because of the heat build up, i think just the light bar with the 6 bulbs works ok.

If the ir is reflective yeah, just use that. Then mount your lights right at the ceiling, and raise or lower your plants to the light, should work great.

Im going to reposition some U bolts and use hooks and jack chain to hang and reposition the bar. the height of the dwc is fixed so i have to move the light not the plants. i will use hooks so i can just shorten the chain.

i'm taking votes on if i should change out the light for this grow, or wait for it to wrap up? would the slight increase in light help my lady?
