Just ordered a Cool Cab!

Of course the cost of the tools is an issue. Personally I did everything with a drill ($25), a package of drill bits ($20), and a cheap hand saw ($15), all of which I get to keep and use on future projects.
Just out of interest, how long did it take you to cut the holes for the cool tube and cabinet ventilation through a sheet metal cabinet?

I would have to be one of the people that disagrees with your purchase, generally speaking at least.

But you can get a cab for literally half or one quarter the price if you make it yourself, and it isn't hard. You just take one of those cabinets from Home Depot or Lowes for $100, put it together, add a light, a fan, and a filter, and your done! All and all, can be done for about $200 if your cheap, or $500 if you would like to go a little better. .
Hello all, and new to this form and website.

I was looking to purchase The Cool Cab for $2,345.00 until I came across this forum. I am no electrical engineer but I can assemble some parts in a cabinet. My biggest question is the wiring and tubing... how hard is all that.

Also, another question the Cool Cab comes with a 14 plant hydroflra system, but a fairly experienced farmer told me he doesn't think there is enough room for 14 plants to fully grow in proper stage. He thinks it's closer more to the number of 6 plants will grow fine... not 14

Okay, finally received my Cool Cab today and it looks pretty good. It was pretty overwhelming for me to deal with tonight so I will take pics tomorrow. Received my seeds last week too so I'm ready!!

The number of plants you grow will really depend on the size of the room you have to grow them in. Not only vertical space, as well as horizontal space for the plant, but the size for the roots as well.

One of the common things that websites like this do (or places that sell them on ebay) is they take a 5 gallon rubermaid and put 16 holes in it. Five gallons is no where near enough for 16 plants. I would say maybe two, others on here would claim one. And yes, it CAN be done, but there is the possible, and then there is the sensical.

As for me, I grow in a cab that is 30" wide, 24" deep, and 71" tall. I grow in two gallon grow bags filled with coco. I can fit 9 in my cab, although it gets very crowded. I usually grow out nine, just so I can find a few to discard. Ideally, I like 4-6 plants in that space.

But again, it's all about preferance.

Hey whats up guys? It's funny seeing this on here because that place sunlight sheds/sunlight solutions is right near my house....I seen where they build all the cool cabs and what not back there.....Even the guys that work there say to just buy the stuff yourself. lol....Actually everytime I go there to pick some stuff up, I always browse through their assembly area. They're ok over there but they really dont have the man power for tons of customer service....They seem to do nice work anyhow....well just my $.02!! I may be able to get a good deal on a cool cab if anyone is serious.

On the website they claim you'll pull 9 to 12 lbs of dried plant material a year from the cool cab.

That totally depends on how long I veg for, in addition to what light I use. I usually use a 400 watt HPS, but sometimes switch it out to a 600 watt HPS. If it gets crazy hot in there, I get rid of it and use a UFO.

Generally speaking, I don't have a scale, so I don't know exactly, but I usually pull about 8 oz a grow, or roughly so. Again, I'm not really sure, just guestamating.

sorry shaggy, I totally missed the last part of your question. Did you want to know what I used to build my cab? Or am I just too stoned to think correctly?

haha, yea brah... I think you're way too faded to try to interact with people on the internet right now. haha

And yea I wanted to know all the equipment you used, and about how much you spent.

PS: I'm sure you're hitting more than eight ounces.

Very possible, but I don't like to claim a number I don't think I can hit.

Anyway, my cab is a 30" wardrobe cabinet that I got from HD for like $95. I added some 1"x3" poplar boards to the back of it, making it a little deeper. I used FatMat sound dampening material, painted it, and then used Blackout fabric to make it light tight. Some tot locks for security, and a TD125 Mixvent fan for ventilation. All and all, it probably cost me around $500, not including the light. But I have alot of things in there that you might not need.

If you want to know something else, just pm me.
