just started and have a few questions

Hi, I have a few questions that are unclear to me. First, I am using jiffy seed starting mix which I hear has very low nutrients, should I start adding nutrients? I heard that having other soils with decent nutrients allows you hold off on giving nutrients for a couple of weeks. Also, when should I start to transplant? My plant is about 2 n half inches n growing on side of a plastic cup( I assume I put seed in wrong). Thanks everyone

I use nuteless soil to start my seedlings, then start 1/4 strength veg nuts at about 2 weeks old. Jiffys are a good way to start....at 2 1/2 inches, your plant can probably handle light veg nutes. Perhaps you need to transplant into another container...if you do, do not disturb the roots at all to minimize shock.

One shouldn't add nutes until you start seeing that the plant needs it (yellowing, wilting, curling, discolored spots etc...). Sometimes you'll wait three or four weeks and start small. You don't want to burn these babys. As for the transplanting I would wait until the roots start poking through the bottom of the cup (you do have holes cut into the bottom right?) I hope this helps.

Well I have four slits(not holes though) on the bottom.but thanks for info, def cleared things up for me...oh another question what soil should I switch too. I heard fox farms was great but can't seem to find anywhere. Any other brands worth trying?
