Maybe I'm just easily amused, but loving the purples on the Grape crosses. I always get a kick out of the really colorful plants.

5*5 update
After running the irrigation setup for 2 years, I have decided to install new netafim lines using twist-to-lock fittings, 30 psi pressure regulator and a 110v diaphragm pump, 45psi. Will add (2) .5gph pressure compensating emitters with lines/stakes per plant when testers go in.

Big tent, little plants. Recovering clones

My flower tent is already getting down into the mid 60s overnight. Hopefully I'll end up with some nice colors later on.

If/when I finally get around to automation, I'm thinking my plan is to just do it as cheap as possible. The line and fitting kits on Amazon are cheap enough that it just seems simpler to basically treat each section as disposable. A line or emitter or something clogs? Toss that shit and put a new one on.

I've been planning to wind down for two winters now but it's not actually happened yet, maybe next year.

It's expensive to keep heat in the area untill I'm into full flower, I need 600/700w running to manage the humidity + keep acceptable temps.

I've a plant dragging it's heals if I could turn the clock back I'd get the hps out when I harvested the other plants grown alongside it and removed 1 of 2 lights.

I think so, it should definitely help! I use a small heater (low setting ~600w) on a heat mat controller to keep things around 75°f. Noticing the electric bill steadily rising..

The line kits come with basically everything you need. I didn't have much a problem with clogged emitters over the couple years I've ran them, but I ran lines/stakes with ¼" shut off valves to control each line separately (no 2gph emitter until last run), and one or two have given me uneven watering.. easy to switch it up. The 550gal Kedsum pump had pretty great pressure for the system.

Oh yeah, I hear that.. Reducing clones was part of my space saving strategy, so making a bunch of seeds, selfed and crosses, has been a way for me to reduce the load by working through the clones, pollinating in small 2*2 tent (preview) then going into either the 2*4 or the 5*5 reserved for medicine. Still have a few in the fridge, but haven't checked in a while. It's been a few months..

That's what I have done previously in the winter, bring out the my/hps.. starting last year(I think?) I kept the LED. Intention has been to learn (experiment) to grow under an LED environment (all seasons) and keep track of how they're doing, unfortunately without taking too many written notes..

It's definitely nice to have the extra heat and UV from the hid lighting. IME, I've seen praying leaves more under HID than LED, 75°f//~65%rh. Probably should be hotter, just trying to use the least amount of electricity.. Star Dog, do you get praying leaves under LED?

I hope all is well with everyone today ~

Doing things slightly differently this season. I'd usually be fighting heat even in winter when we'd use the house's propane furnace to heat the place. Bedrooms would stay warm enough that I had to leave the tents hanging wide open to keep temps down inside when lights were cranked up. Now that we're just burning wood and I keep the bedroom doors closed, it's actually a little chilly in them. I suppose I should actually close the window at night to stop the tents from dropping quite that much. But these days I have my flower tent almost completely closed, just a small flap left open to let in fresh air, and even with my QB cranked to 100% the tent is staying 82-85. Closed tents are a whole new experience for me.

The overall health is more what I'm paying attention to.

It was a few crops of led before I got the hang of it, I had all the usual problems, the thing is I don't have the money to be burning heaters @36p kwh.

This morning I put these back under t5s, they've been in the flwr area for 7/8 days but they're just not growing its barely been 20c on the floor.

The plant I should've put under hps is starting to be a problem...things are threatening to backup.

Nice. I think you will notice a difference with the tent being closed, raised humidity and heat under the QB. I wonder what the CO2 levels are with the wood burning. Gotta have some raised levels, right?

Very beautiful and healthy plants @Star Dog. I will stop by your journal to look at (and take notes of) your environment and feed.. really healthy and green.
I have seen "praying" leaves mostly in the first few weeks of flower. When really pushing the plants and environment is on point, or at least what I have thought to be a good, "vigorous" sign of plant health and environment.

I struggle most times with purple stems under LED. My understanding is could be magnesium def, but I also don't want to push the mg in the plants too much. Also though it could be too much light or incorrect environment.. After foliar sprays is when it rly happens..(1ml/L cal-mag & silica + 200mg seaweed) was thinking the moisture was having an affect on the color. Your plants are inspiring! Thanks for sharing ~

I've seen some plants stay green while others have turned purple.
Now i don't get too concerned about it so long as the plants look green and healthy.

This is in veg, it a graft, 2 different plants on 1 stem.

1 week into 14/10 and the clones are stretching, filling out the nets before going into 12/12 in another week or two. Inspired by an experiment where a flowering cycle used 14/10 for ~28 days then switched to a 10/14 light cycle for another 28, finishing the cycle. Not sure if I will go 10/14 or 12/12 just yet..

12/29: Day 3 of 12/12 & day 14 since flipping to a 14/10 cycle. I couldn't wait another week to flip to a 12/12 cycle as the g33's are almost hitting the light, even after raising. Planning to supercrop that bish into submission. They're healing up from a deficiency, that's for sure.

Getting pretty woo here.. I've started a playlist for the gals and added a grounding wire to each of the pots, definitely having fun. Watering in a 2-1-3-2-1 ratio feed with tap. The 0.4ec tap water is going through a carbon filter, removing chlorine for sure.

Edit:
For anyone interested, music selections include hour long videos of 1-rain in forest, 1-morning birds, 1-birds and classical and several classical playlists tuned to 432hz, and relaxing meditation music/some classical during lights out. Yep.. committed to the experience/experiment. Playlist starts 2hrs before lights on. :)

1/11 - F27/D16: Plants are doing well in the 5*5 tent. I decided to add LED bars beneath the canopy to add lighting where the sun don't (usually) shine. The szhlux LEDs were picked up as part of a grow tent package on craigslist.

Photo edited for light. Open to suggestions on editing..

Meat Pai (Pai Gow x Meat Breath, et al) is seemingly doing fairly well. Wish I'd had room to give her a bigger pot, train her and give her some actual care, but no space on this run. Pretty no-fuss plant so far.

Looking nice! I'm sure she'll grow some nice nuggets for ya. The "Meat Pai" seeds I grew out had purple and green flowers. The vigorous growth and structure of the Banana OG x LCG seeds are real stout, I think you will enjoy.

Knew I wouldn't have room for shrubs in there, so I just topped the coco tent once a week before flip. The Banana OG cross I got from GPS is looking like a nice bushy little plant if a bit taller than I wanted. Animal Cookies crosses seem nice, but gotta imagine Banana OG x LCG is hopefully something a little more special.
