Ok, since Cannabis has obviously acclimatized to the USA, what's your favorite "mainland" USA land race strain?

If you are trying to suggest it hasn't or that u.s. doesn't have land races you would be wrong... my favorite? Well I do believe ruderalis has its place just not in my garden.

You've got my respect, if you grow the big sativas indoors, that takes real dedication. And especially "landrace" seeds, cause I know with all the variations, it must be frustrating.


But for the sake of debate-



Don't forget cannabis Sativa (hemp) that's grown wild for decades in Kentucky. But, we don't have people traveling from around the world collecting seeds of wild growing "Kentucky hemp"-


Kona doesn't have a lot of unmolested wild marijuana growing in the area... It's surrounded by a lava field.

Which is why I wouldn't call Kona Gold a landrace.

The story of one guy throwing seeds away, and accidentally starting a handful of plants, that grew naturally for a few seasons sounds more believable to me.


I also know of a guy that used to spread seeds around in different places throughout Hawaii (but not in Kona, LOL).

He was trying to create his own Hawaiian "landrace" fields of cannabis if you want to call it that-

Since my girlfriend and I smoked Kona Gold we freakin loved it. Awesome flavor! We then found out that a lot of the Hawaiian strains were either gone or some say in threads that it never existed. Either way through beating my head on walls and endless Google searches, in 3 months I have got this.

This is the Kona Gold pheno we first smoked. I finally got it after talking the club owner into giving it to me. Had to promise not to give any cuts away too. This was taken from the Islands years ago and grown in Nor Cal since.


Here are are some seeds from a collective in the Hollywood area. 6-18% THC Trace CBD and CBG This strain is: 90% Sativa & 10% Indica Will mature after 8 Weeks Brought over from Kona in the early 80's and has been tossed around the family for a few decades. A real solid strain with the great smell and taste of the islands. A rich flavorful smoke.


Two seeds from the Kona Pheno we like, that is believed to have selfed.


I am still hoping for some High Grade Kona Gold seeds, maybe someday. Never know what the future will bring.
and to those who think it never existed kiss-ass. Thats right, get deep in there! kiss-ass LOL. JK

They ain't no such a thang, as a "Hawaiian Land race" Cannabis strain



The first hemp plants in Hawaii, were likely planted by the crew of Captain James T. Kirk... Uh, I mean Cook-

European explorers always carried hemp seeds with them, and planted them everywhere they went, so they could come back later, and make rope for their sailing ships.



But the legendary Hawaiian Cannabis strains of the 60's and 70's, were either freaky examples, or land race strains from other countries that happened to grow really well in Hawaii. And if you happen to actually get some of those really dynamite Kona Gold seeds, they won't ever be that great, unless you happen to live in a tropical climate, and grow enough to find something special.




And yeah, I did throw something out there about some guy, who's well known on the Big Island

I new here to this site, great to be talking about Hawaiian Types of Plants. I grew up on the Big island and grew PUNA BUDDA BUDS, ( aka puna butter buds )... or the family grown MANGO WEED. Raised by Puerto Rican family, I'm Haole , learned to grow by them... I also have Columbian regrown 70s seeds my electrical boss gave me 4 years ago. Let me know if interested...
