Last minute forced resin production???

Any one know if cooler temps help resin production ... I have two outdoors in New England and its getting cool ... been some nice sunny days but cool nights 49 right now and colder weathers coming, afraid I'll be harvesting a couple weeks before full maturity.

Morrisgreenburg and Drifter excellent points.I agree that resin served more than one thing for the cannabis..And I also believe that there are techniques that insure more resin production..which ones actually work is open for debate. Also, yes ofcourse cannabis is concious..its a living thing..all living things have a "concios "to a limit ofcousre. The playing of music sends vibrations that "move"the plant..much like blowing wind on them makes the stems stronger..its a defense mechanism to insure the plant can survive environmal stress like string winds and vibrations...

I would say that no,cooler temps dont incude more resin production. Its been proven that resin helps to keep the plant "cool"and from drying out.More heat makes more resin..to a certain point.I think temps from 85-88 is fine...but Im not expert.Cooler temps has eben linked hwoever,to making the buds colorufl..Most indicas can trun a shade of puple if there are cool enough temps during the later weeks of flowering.

I think we should experiment and find out once and for all whether or not any of these methods actually work. I'm willing, but am just finishing week one. But if this is still unproven when my first batch approaches ready I'll ick 2 very similar plants and nail one of 'em.

Then we'll see.

Jsgrown..you are right that my theroies are conflicting, but I never said I agree with them, just that those are the ones I have read from various sources.I strongly believe that resin serves as a pollen catcher, causing any pollen that falls on it to stick to the buds, and then travel down to the buds themself....there is also some minor evidence that resin blocks harmful sun radiation from causing harm to the developing seeds inside.
There are ofcourse other theories on why resin exists, and what outside variables can cause the cannabis specimen to produce more of it...The nail theiry sounds unbelieving, but try using UV lught through the entire flowering stage, and documnet the results...
Well put brov. as far as the uv light, i use both MH and HPS lamps which provides my girls with UVA and UVB rays. MH really packs on the crystals. I have a thread a while back when i used just MH lamps and tested the thc content against HPS (thread included a quote from Ed Rosenthal) and the MH did produce slightly higher THC content. late:mrgreen:

GrowTech

stays relevant.
Last minute anything is a bad idea. Unless we're talking about smoking a last minute bowl before going into the theater to see a 3D movie. :)

What about Hot day temps 85f and low night temps 66-68f ?
I seem to be getting good results :blsmoke:
Sounds good..and if you can manage even lower temps at night..or when the lights are off..itll be better. Most indicas can easily turn purple if there are temps below 75 during flowering...However its also good to keep temps on the day pretty high,as this will make the plant produce more resin in order for it not to dry...

I can't imagine the trichomes are for catching pollen. In all other plants I've learned about, the pollen has to touch the stamen, and then the pollen burrows a hole through the stamen to the ovary where it fertilizes the bud. How would the pollen get to the inside of the bud if it is on a trichome? Why are trichomes "sticky"? And why do the trichomes turn amber? Do bees/insects like marijuana plants? Are the trichomes there so that bugs stick to the plant and as they struggle, they brush their polleny legs agains the hairs? What is the natural mechinism of pollenation? Just wind?

That kush would probably turn purple very easily if the temps go low enough in the later parts of flowering...ty to keep it in bwteen 60-75 during lights off.

heheh.... on my next grow i plan to do a repeat shuffle of the fantasia soundtrak in the flowering chamber.

butta, i also think of plants as being conscious. Some plants even eat bugs, reptiles, frogs, etc.

i utilize 'sea of green' when growing, with numerous plants (clones) closely spaced together. at some point the room is so full that i am only comfortable working my way through the plants in my birthday suit. if you go gently and slowly the plants will yield. but if you move without care... i would swear... that i have felt a plant prickle up with its cystolith hairs like a porcupine would to dissuade an animal from (eating) it.

guess this is a whoel nother debate on what constitues 'consciousness' :D
