Last minute forced resin production???

Ok, so i heard this from an old timer today, who said this is a "trick of the trade" and its been done by growers for years and years.

Like a day before you harvest, take a drill or somethin liek that, and drill a hole at the base of the stem, all the way through the stem, and then put a stick in the hole, and let it sit over night like you usually would. Apparently by the next day, you wont be able to pull the stick out or move it at all, and the buds will be smothered in resin sugar, somethin like 2x or 3x what it would have been had you harvested without putting the plant into shock and forcing it to protect itself by building up as much resin as humanly(or oganically, i should say) possible.

Is this true??? has anyone ever done or heard about this before???

your not killing the plant by drilling a hole into themiddle of the base of the stem. Your just putting it into serious shock. Cutting it from its roots completely will make the plant put on a coat of resin before it starts to die, but apparently nothing like what im hearing this shit does, lol.

So maybe ill try it with my girls, who knows. I got this info from a VERY reliable source - a long time friend of the family, so to speak. So if i do, ill let u all know how it turns out - n if anybody wants to try it before me, please do - cuz it aint like youll be doin any harm to the plant, youll be harvesting the next day, lol.

Please, kindspade, ask your old timer friend how big the hole should be and whether or not you should resume the normal 12/12 photoperiod? Should you use a toothpick like stick or something? Could I put it into 24 hours with no lights + the drill technique??? Thanks a lot and please get back!!!

just so everyone knows, this is a myth. You can do it and it wont hurt the plant since you will be harvesting it the next day. but the resin is there to help catch the pollen from males and is not a defense mechanism. it works the same way that wheat reproduces. so maybe you should tell the plant that its going to get laid to increase resin. Furthermore, it takes much longer that 24 hours for the plant to produce 2x the resin. late

hmm i know nothing but i thought resin was sun block for the plant, the hotter the more resin to protect its self,i heard to allmost burn the plant with ur lights last week before harvesting (suposed to sag the plant down with all the extra oil)

Mmmm, sounds like a variation of the bang a nail through your stem crap that's been around for the last 30-40 years.

The first rule is tell no-one and the second should be don't believe everything you hear/read.:peace:

the plant will gain a lot of weight in the final week or so because it is growing from the inside out. if you pull early, you usually get fluffy buds. but when you let it mature completely you will get full heavy nugs.

yeah i guess its the same type of myth about the nail through the plant. But i AM tellin u that my pops' friend does this to his plants when he grows, and according to him it works - n he said he uses a 1/4 inch drill sterilized, which once again, sounds like the nail through the stem myth.

Im still gonna try it though. Experimenting is fun :D

Ive heard that b4 but never really believed it.. I heard to stick a needle thru the stem to shock it to force the thc in the stalk and roots to the buds.. The other myth ive heard is to stick the roots in a boiling pot of water for 30 seconds then pull for 15 seconds then repeat process again 2 or 3 times.. If ne 1 has solid proof let me know which 1 werks ill be harvesting in 2 weeks or so

Well i just read that puttin the roots in boiling water wont do shit.. I read it hea in this link.. Marijuana Botany - Marijuana Growing Guide

Some good stuff in there guys read up
How would you sit there and read all that? I got tired just clicking the link let alone reading all that. I prefer looking at pretty pictures to show me how to do it, rather than boring the hell out of myself for 3 or 4 hours, but i'm not saying its not useful. Just not for me. :)
