Leaf Spotting/Burnt Tips

This is my first grow ever so I am sorry if I am not including something I should or adding stuff that is completely not important. First a little back story. Originally these were planted with the intent of doing a stealth grow outside, just placing them somewhere and checking on them once or twice a week. After they started growing I realized this was not going to work, if I am taking any risk I want it to be worth something so both plants got moved inside. In my haste to get started and with not knowing what I was doing I am sure I have made a ton of mistakes. I noticed a few issues with some leaves and wanted some advice on the best way to proceed. The plants are now in a 20x20x48 grow tent. I now have a 6" fan, a carbon filter, and a 4" exhaust fan. Temperature is around 77 and humidity is around 50%. The light is a cheap grow light that is pretty similar to a MARS300. I plan on upgrading after this grow but for now this is what I am working with.

These are Northern Light Autos. The lady in the brown pot with the basil was planted directly in soil outside. The one in the green pot was germinated and started inside under a small 65 watt LED grow bulb. She is bent from some really light LST because I do not have a ton of height to work with. I am using organic soil with some extra perlite. They were both seeds 4 weeks ago today.

The plant that was outside was just moved inside a few days ago. The plant that I started inside I was going to move outside as well and this is where I think a lot of problems started. It was around 90 degrees Fahrenheit on the days I put it outside and at the time I was using a small cupboard to grow with very little airflow. I know the soil got extremely hot and then I put the plant in the cupboard and I imagine with very little airflow it got pretty toasty in there.

Both plants have been sprayed with Neem Oil to ensure that no bugs make their way inside and because I was not sure what was causing the spotting as that started after I put her outside. With the tent I have heat and humidity under control and just want to ensure that I resolve any other issues.

The white residue is just from some Dr Jacks Deadbug that was used before I discovered Neem Oil. The new top growth does not appear to have any burnt tips or spotting. Should I remove these fan leaves or leave them alone? Any help is greatly appreciated!

Calcium deficiency, not bad though, always calibrate your ph pen. Always before each new grow, just mo
I don't have a PH Pen although I probably should get one. This was all kind of spur of the moment so I am learning on my feet. I believe it is from using old aquarium water to water the plants as my fish need a higher PH so the texas holey rock and substrate definitely will boost the PH to 7.6+ where my tap comes out at around 7. None of the new growth has any spots like this although my second plant is displaying something on one of the leaves.

Any clue what this is from?

They have both been tied down because I don't have a ton of height. The new growth looks good to my untrained eye and they are both starting to show pistils which is super exciting.

Well I’m not the best or even a seasoned grower but considering you are using aquarium water .... lol and no way to PH, who knows what is wrong. Can’t believe they are alive.

I used aquarium water once. The only difference between aquarium water and tap water is that it has nitrates/trace minerals/and a higher PH, other then that there really is absolutely no difference between aquarium water and tap water. I use aquarium water to water every other plant I have, why waste free nutrients and 10+ gallons of water a week? I am no longer using it for my plants simply because I do not have the space to experiment with it to see what the results would be but I highly doubt that it could kill a plant even if I exclusively watered with it. I will definitely look into a ph pen as I want this to be successful. Thanks!

I’ve always ph’d my water because I want to have a good “starting “point. A ph that is out of wack will cause nutriyuptake problems

I did not know that and thinking more on it it is much different to use on ornamental plants then on something that I plan on ingesting :( - talk about growing pains! Is there a brand of pen I should look into or will any pen with good reviews from Amazon work fine? I also think I want to upgrade my light before they start flowering so I really need to do some research tonight. I am not even 5 week into this grow and I already have a decent list of things I am going to differently the next time around, I was going to wait on the light until next grow but I want the best results possible. Thanks for all the responses and help., it is greatly greatly appreciated!

And don’t let people tell you blurple lights don’t grow good bud... I have diy lights that kick ass and blurple lights that kick ass. Just buy one and learn to grow

Buy a ppm and ph that are calibratable and the calibration solution that is a must. If you can't calibrate it you cannot trust it.

Added: correction it looks like pm.

Thanks again for all the help! I just ordered a PH and a PPM Meter so they will be here in a day or two. I pulled them out of the tent just to look them over a bit better. With the exception of the leaves that I pointed out everything is looking good to me. They are shaped a little funny so my LST technique definitely needs some work but overall I am very happy and thankful for all the help and the other posts, there is so much information and it makes this much easier.

Plant 1 32 days from seed(Dropped in soil outside)

Plant 2 31 days from seed(Germinated then started inside under cheap 65w led grow light bulb)
