Was reading up on the lumen/watt efficiency of different kinds of lights when I found some pretty recent news:
Cree, Inc. , a market leader in LED lighting, announces another industry-best reported efficacy record of 208 lumens per watt for a white power LED. This R&D result passes a significant milestone within the solid-state lighting industry as well as demonstrates Crees relentless drive to increase the performance of its LEDs.

200 lumens per watt! I'm not an LED grower but damn thats impressive. Compared to 400 watts of HPS, it puts out an extra 30000 lumens. (400W HPS usually puts out about 50000), this makes it over 1.5 x as efficient. I know 600 watt HPS's are the most efficient of HID lights, but just a comparison.
the LEDs rated at ~4600K, definitely usable spectrum for cannabis
