LED lights for a 2’X7’ closet?

Trying to keep it cheap and simple: Can I grow decent flowers if I set up three lights that are supposed to cover a 2’X2’ area in this narrow closet? The ones I am looking at all advertise themselves as 1,000-watt equivalent but draw less than 300 actual watts. Plants would be no more than 3’ tall. The lights are listed on Amazon for less than $100 each and I was hoping to daisy chain them. I am thinking I will try to grow six plants in a hydro system in this closet.

I have grown under LED before but for the last couple years I was growing outside. I can’t even remember what wattage I was using, just that I had a tent and a closet.

What light are you thinking about? Do you have a link? You're not looking at blurples are you?

These are $270 a piece after the REFURB code. 2 would be sweet.

I was hoping to get some kind of blurple light, possibly three like this, but the price seems too low to be true for cranking out flowers.



Also I found this. I like the fact that you can angle the beams by bending the “chassis” of the lamp.

For a 2x2 you want something like a new QB288 with lm301 diodes and some reds runinng 120w in flower.

Shop around as there are some really good deals out there, first figure out grow area size then find adequate light, ask here and someone will help you. No blurples! Old technology is not good technology. Boards or bars or cobs even because they grow well too. All depends on your environment.

Lol I should have known blurple would be obsolete by now!

I saw this at Home Depot the other day but I don’t know if it would be good for flowering.

Stumbled across these deals last night, never used them but the prices are damn good at the moment. 100W 4 bar light with 408 leds for $42, 300w 6 bar light with 1224 leds for $119 and a 400w two board light with 1632 leds for $140. Non Samsung leds at that price point of course.

They are a pretty good deal, would work well for veg. But they lie about wattages.

That $42 light is actually like $40 with the extra 5% off. 5 of those would probably work pretty good in that 2x7 the OP has and it'd only be like $200. I'm kinda tempted to buy one just for the hell of it.

i I can’t figure out if I would be able to daisy-chain them together. It looks like each one pulls about 100 watts from the outlet.

Ya, I don't think you can daisy chain them. And ya, each one pulls up to 100 watts. The HLG lights are gonna be better quality, but they're also more expensive. Since you wanted to spend like $300, I thought this was something you might want to consider.

The cool thing about multiple lights is you can adjust the heights differently for plants of different heights.

I was hoping to spend no more than $400 on the closet lights. Eventually I will add a tent or three, maybe, so I will need more lights for them.

The closet is as tall as the room (8 or 9 feet) but it has a shelf approximately at 5 feet 6 which would limit how tall plants could grow.

Id get rid of that shelf. The more you diminish height the harder the grow and your light choices get. For light, would you consider DIY? It would be fairly easy to get a solution for you your space. Problem is most bought light work like qbs; lots of power from a small area which means higher hanging height, shorter plants which bleach/burn as they reach to close to the light. Id go for a strip build, possibly with blux vesta; they have both cold and warm white, 5000k and 2700k which means stretch control. It should be within range of your budget if you can find cheap alu profiles locally. No point in looking for those online really its usually fairly $$$$$ but if you look thru the yellow pages to find where local construction/craft workers get theur alu from you should be able to find some.

im running 39w a sqf of qb, thats gonna do well, before that i ran 28w of cmh and that went well, good dope. the key is not to be scared, if ur fi ding urwelf worried or scared u just need to walk away for a few days and do minimal whilst keeping ur eyes on the ball
