This is a cheap light I picked up today. Obviously I want the spectrum king light but that one is $1,500 so we get this and add cfl supplemental lighting. I have 2 bulbs at 2700k 125w to add to the 5x5 grow tent. If necessary I'll add another led panel. Please review the specs and let me know how it is related to PAR output. It can be a bit confusing understanding differences between spectrum, lumens, PAR, brightness, and light penetration. In the end, watts claimed don't mean shit. We need to understand how much valuable light these babies are putting out. Can anyone please shed perspective. #ExplainToMeLikeImFive

I added a few cfl bulbs to help out my feable LED. Once I have the 1200w I should be in better shape though. Wish me luck.

@bigmanc I am wondering the same thing...I compared the specs and this light definitely has heat sinks, lower watts, higher lumens compared to the mars 2 1200W. It is likely due to the 6w diodes. I'll keep you posted. Please follow my grow here since nobody else is atm.
I always appreciate advice and I will update you guys on the new King 1200w LED panel which should be here in a couple days. In the meantime kick your feet up and watch my Cheesey Smurf's finish. ive grown nice flowers w mars however they are not in same league as optic, apache, etc
The lamps using the monochromatic diodes operate at low efficiency. The 1200w that pulls 600 on the killa wAtt is likely less than 30% efficient. So your getting a paltry couple hundred par watts. The tech is obsolete.

Did you read all the specs on my King light. I get what you are saying but this is the new 3rd generation model where they seem to have surpassed the 1200w Mars 2. We have all seen the mars grow healthy plants so why do you believe this will not?

bro, those specs are filled with preposterous misinformation.
"Coverage Area about 6 x 6 Square Feet" absolutely insultingly false. A 13"x13" case for 36 sq ft cmon bro that is straight up cluelessness.
"Robust growth: grow 2x the yield of HID" this claim would be true if the hid was unplugged/ in a different room.
That light will maybe grow decent flowers in a 2.5x 2.5 space.
There is no way to determine the par wattage of the lamp unless you know the specific details of the diodes they are using.

but that does make sense, its all about the quality of the diodes used but also the way the leds are assembled.
hence the Kind LED in this thread clearly showing some modules not working.
The quality of the led diodes in those units aren't the only thing at fault with them tho, the thermal paste they use to transmit heat from the leds is terrible, its like white glue.
Then there is the 'human error' factor, no human can solder in those LEDs to be perfectly flat against the heatsink for 100% heat dispersal, if you take one of the cluster boards out and look at how level all the leds are you will see what I mean.
That king led tho on the other hand shows a robot installing LEDs into a circuit board. Maybe less failures because of the perfection of soldering? absolutely.
The same as MARL now uses robots to make SMD Osram Boards, its more efficient with less then 1% failure rate which is picked up by the QC end.

p.s. yeah the boss king is 6w per diode, don't know what voltage they are putting into them tho but im sure its @ the MAX! lol

so if those 6w leds are driven at the most efficient power. etc.. why just offer 1 year warranty? when they are meant to last over 50,000 hours?

any mfg. who states that a 13"x 13" cased light will illuminate a 6x6' area is basically calling you a stooge.
I think the vero cobs are manufactured by toshiba. Veros are likely twice the value of any diode in the lamp pictured above.

Ok buddy...So I just got this beast literally an hour ago and already hooked it up. The fucking light just about damn blinded me. This light appears brighter then the Mars 2 1200w and on youtube people are growing pretty nice flowers with that light. Perhaps I am being a bit too optimistic because I want my purchase to actually help grow proper herb. Worst case scenario I will throw in a few CFL's to help out in the 5x5 tent. The Cherry Pie, Deadhead OG, San Fernando Valley Kush, and Girl Scout Cookies that will be going under the King 1200w light. Deal with it. Stay tuned and happy growing.
