i just got the ecogroled panel replaced under warranty since the 90w one fogged up its still ecogroled just a different panel using underdriven 3w leds the spotlight is a 12w with 8 blue 4 red 1w diodes and if you looked at my grow i was impressed with led especially the one i bought when all is said and done it was either almost a gram per watt at 90 true watts or over a gram per watt if the panel was pulling 45-60w and it was my first hydro attempt too so i aint knockin shit but bullshit i cant stand bullshit and thats what most marketing is thats what i hate on not the ledSo what did you decide on?? I can never tell if you want to go LED or if you're an LED hater. If you decided on a good unit you will be satisfied with your purchase and change the minds of any skeptics you know. I know this because I've had people telling me I'm stupid for going LED and they have eaten their words along with their 400-500 power bill every month. Each and every month that mines way lower = more LED wattage. Every month that my power bill is $200-300 means more LED lights.I like what my LED units are doing so much that it gets to me every time I hear any of the widely held misconceptions being perpetuated by people who have NEVER given them a chance based solely on the grow authorities(hydroshops) that act as the hub of indoor gardening. Of course LED sucks to them because they make SOO much money on HID lighting and all the other components to deal with the heat issues. That's why every shop that has a small selection of LED claims that their LEDs are the way to go if you are going to go LED which quote, "I wouldn't suggest, they just haven't come far enough yet" when I know that these guys are salesman and have a larger margin on the HID lighting so when I hear the LED sucks myth being perpetuated it's like someone lying to me all over again and I know damn well that LED does work and that these salesman are lying so to me to make a few more bucks of one sale when it will cost me more money EVERY month. So not cool!! To me it's like somebody saying, one movie is better than the other without having watched both. How would they know?? If it's not base on experience, it's based on something else and you have to question motives of others when seeking advice, especially when they are willing to give you advice in an area that they have no experience. Why would ACTUAL users of LED lie to you?? I have no personal gain for deceiving you. Just think about motives and apply some critical thinking to this issue and it's not difficult to see where the misinformation regarding LED is perpetuated.

Very interesting! Looks like the 660nm LEDs they used are The most expensive per photon flux. Wish the manufacturers would publish data like that on their units. +rep
not all are run at low power the 12w spot runs at 12.5 on the kill a watt the 135 pulls half at about 68w link to my grow was https://www.rollitup.org/grow-journals/377482-my-first-led-grow.html most leds run at half power because panel makers too cheap to drop a heatsink on dat bitch to keep led properly coolAll LEDs are not run at full power, most run at half to 75%. Crappy panels use lower watt leds or go with fewer higher watt leds but run them lower than they should. Hey got any linkes to that over 1g per w thingy you wer ejust talking about?
if you know what diodes are being used you can get that data yourself direct from the diode maker i got a bunch from nichia with spec sheets they tell me all i need to know it also looks like reds are the most expensive from any manufacturer offering 660Very interesting! What models? I doubt they really run on 600w. So you should be much more impressed if you find out they really only run on about 430w, although you will also probably be more pissed about how much they really charged you for.hello,
would just like to share, i''ve had good finishing results with my led lamps, i have 4 600w units and was pleasantly suprised..
i was honestly worried that i wasted my money but they work well and really suited to my stealth grow needs..
very quiet, much less heat and also not too heavy on the electric bill.
i would recommend though to use a few CFL's on the side for sustained undergrowth

The friend who first got me looking into LED uses only blue at 430-460nm in his veg. When he switches to 12/12, he only uses red 630-660nm. The premise is that depriving your ladies of the reds during veg causes them to react much more when switched to all red. The red wavelengths are still pretty efficient at chlorophyll so it does no harm to have them in the mix but since the 430-460nm peak is the most efficient. From the reading above, "The LED-based illumination with a proper proportion of light components enhances photosynthetic productivity and ensures better plant morphology in comparison with illumination using high pressure sodium lamps."

The guy who runs growledhydro recommends keeping his LED lights over 12 in at all times, although he says soem people report they aren't get bleaching as close as 6-8 in away (but since he tests his own designs on marijuana, I'm assuming he found bleaching in some strain to say as high as 12in). How far were yours? (the closest my 395w total draw LED has gotten is 8 in and I hadn't any bleaching.
tie over the one cola too might help maintain a good average heightAbout 8 at the time of bleaching, I pulled it back to 12 for now. It's one of those "holy shit that one cola is really fucking tall" situations, where you risk bleaching one cola in order to properly light the rest of the plants. Thats the first time those have bleached anything. I haven't really dealt with that prior, I just thought it was superficially cool and stupid.
Now I know. 12 inches. Anyone with a blackstar 500W (280 actual draw) keep it at 12 inches.
Post some pics. You sure its white powdery mildew in your pots/ roots? Most nutes will leave white residue stains/salt buildup on the pots or hydroton especially at the fringe areas that the water reaches. Fuzzy roots on new seedlings isn't uncommon either. When I've run aero in the past the roots have so much "hair" on them they look like pipe cleaners.I have a fresh question related to LED's. Im running (2) 357Magnum LEDs in a 5' x 2' space - growing 10 Bubblicious Ice F. autos -2 mystery gender white widows - theyre growing in EcoGrowers, 6" pots, hydroton medium topped with a tiny bit of cocotek mylar surround... Very light nutes (1/2 dosage for amt of water), dept store filtered water. The temp above the plants is steady between 72-82 degrees F, and I have the containers chilled to 18.5 C (65-67 celcius). Im growing germinated seeds directly into the hydroton with the help of a tiny but of cocotek around the seedling base. Theyve grown their first set of true leaves, but the first three days all of this ran - the nutrient / water rose to near 76-78 degrees. I looked inside the EcoGrowers and smelled mold / mildew. Found white mildew starting to spread on the cocotek liners. Pulled one small runt seedling and found a slight bit of white fuzz on the root - put him back.
Now the fluids are cool again, and the system is running again as per norm. But my question is this. Will the reduced temp reduce, retard, or kill this mildw / mold? I dont know what else to do. PH's are all good, light is nice, temps are good, water got a crumb or to of cocotek in it - how can I avoid this mildew / mold problem? Any ideas? I dont want to lose these babies. I havent seen squat on EcoGrowers around here. The magnum357LEDs sem to kick serious as btw. Any help would be SO APPRECIATED.

The standard 50W per square foot still applies whether it's LED or HID.such as if i was to want a LED coverage for say, 9ftx5ft would i need perhaps, 2x 250w blackstar LED? positioned at what height/width for optimal coverage.
