I may be light burning a bit as well, don't have a lux meter but my 600w is around 12-14 inches from my tops, temps are only around 79-80 at canopy though, definetly dialing back the nutes and see if that takes care of it.

That seems a little close. I have found that moving the light away can help with trich production. Look at your plants, are the buds on the sides more crystallized then the ones directly under the lamp? I used to think that having the lights super close was the way to go but if you read into lighting an sunlight and what not, they recommend around 60k lux for flowering. 90k is actually stronger than sunlight and in general, is no bueno.

I would highly suggest a cheap eBay lux meter. Extremely valuable for setting your hood height. Mostly to get the height that gives a nice even swath of light. You would be amazed at how different hoods throw light. Some are great and some are total shit. I bought and returned about 5 hoods before settling on the super sun II. You know what's weird though is that the adjust a wing reflectors, which throw a super super wide swath, actually have less light intensity directly under the bulb! Kind of goofy.

I'm ebaying it right now.

Trichome production is very minimal at this point, I'm only running Fox farm beasty bloom and tiger bloom, with a bit of N to round it off. I have never used any sweet because my grows have tasted very nice without it and I had been told its pretty much for flavor. Really hoping trics start popping up, there are no more on the side than the middle so I'm sure i didn't burn them.

Backed the light off 'em a bit, heres a pic of the worst spot on a leaf, the rest look considerably healthier.






And here's the bulkiness update (some stretch left a few weak branches, propped up with tupper wear and some cardboard)

day 25 and I left my bad camera and had to use my worser camera, donno what can be told from these pics but the best i can do today

I'm running at 35-40% I'm trying to put off putting more money into the setup until after the holidays and this run should be harvested around the first of the new year.

Because I'm a compassion grower (don't really charge my patient for my time) I don't make much profit from my grows, I can make small upgrades here and there but big ones like an a/c-dehu will have to wait til spring when I absolutely need it, I mean, I have a co2 regulator that I'm waiting to install because I can't afford the tank lol.

Right on. Well 35-40 is perfect anyways. It's really hard to get it lower than that

So, I'm wondering if I should have named this thread "Profgrow makes big mistakes so you don't have too"

I once again get to admit to a failure I have made and how it has effected my grow.

I will preface with this; The last 2 weeks have been rough to say the least, between car problems keeping me away from home longer (taking buses etc) and weddings/holidays taking up exorbitant amounts of my time (my lights running while I'm at work doesn't really give me a lot of time to check up on things either).

The nutrient burn wasn't nutrient burn.... it was ph lock... Yes, I know "hey prof, how do you get ph lock in hydro?" by being a baddy is how, person I just made up....

I had taken Ph readings from both my reses, leaving my meter under the drip ring for a few min to get a solid reading, the drip rings are way under there so its hard to see whats going on. Long story short I was getting false readings because I was effectively sticking my meter in ph down concentrate while my res water flowed over it making it fluctuate as if it was under water only.

On a hunch I took a direct reading... 7.6... now, I have no idea how long this has been going on, I assume a few weeks. It explains the tip burn as if I had been over nuting, most of the damage is on the left bush and that was the res with the higher numbers (right res is holding around 5.9).

The damage isn't severe but it will hurt my yield slightly. I did a full exchange and wiped the residue from the drip rings, running lower nutes and 5.8 ph, hopefully this sticks, there was some algae in the res but very little, I would use a bit of peroxide but I want to see if she mellows out.

Really hoping I can get this under control, this is the one downfall of hydro; mistakes cost a lot.

Just one more reason I am reluctant to move away from organic. Aside from the beautiful taste of course.

I honestly have never noticed a taste difference, tons of growers talk about the flavor of soil grows but I just can't differentiate, maybe my taste buds are shot lol.

being as you're talking about nute burn, my leaves have got some yellow spots on them and the end of the leaf is curling up. thier only 2 weeks old and i didnt give them much just 1/2m to a litre of canna start which says its for seedlings and rooted cuttings and the recomended dose is a max of 4m to a litre. would you say its nute burn? or could it be a lack of nutes?
im using general purpose soil

Not a soil guy but sounds like a deficiency. Leaves curled down= too much of something. Leaves curled up = not enough.

Check for bugs, feed them more

And yeah, the whole organic soul grow tastes better is a complete myth. I've put my hydro buds up against quality soil buds in numerous blind taste tests and nobody could tell the difference. Its about healthy plants, good genetics and proper cure.

thanks for that every other post i read said it was nute burn and to flush them but i knew i hadnt over done it. i just added 1m per l of vegga, rhizotonic and cannazyme

Well yesterday's flush and nutrient exchange didn't go as well as I had hoped.

I awoke this morning to the smell of decaying plant matter...

Most of my top fan leaves were burned to a crisp from the new nutrient solution, it was considerably weaker than the original formula and ph'd to around 5.9 so I'm really unsure as to how this could happen overnight.

The right plant is holding strong, it did not receive the flush and wasn't reacting badly at all in the first place but the left plant is close to being a loss, I will know more over the next 48-72 hrs.

Here's a few pics of the devastation.

My first grow was with only cfls. Never ended up finishing. Transplanted in flowering and it just was going down hill. Second grow i put in a 150hps after a few weeks. Thats the beginning of this thread. That grow wasn't successful either. I am seeing good results for the first time using these bottles. So, i consider this my first grow that will be completed . Lovin those bottles. "

I think I may be able to salvage it, we shall see, if the damage persists I will just destroy that plant and start a freshy.

so where are ur guys canopy when u start to flower?
