Someone just pointed out that local cops do not enforce federal law anyway....Written by Tim Mueller. Tim Mueller is the sheriff of Linn County, Oregon.

The laws in the state he polices primarily contradict what federal law states. Unless there is a law that states how sheriffs need to uphold federal law over their own state law (which there isn't I believe, its is only inferred) then what is he supposed to do? He is in between a rock and a hard place and he is an elected official by the people of his own state. You cannot screw your voters!

The entire concept is stupid. in the old days, everyone who had half a brain and could read, understood the Constitution. It made sense to the common man. Now we need 200 years of history and an eye toward the Supreme court in order do determine what actually is and is not constitutional. That being now the case, we cannot depend upon LEO's "interpretation of the Constitution to be the "right" one. We cannot depend upon my interpretation nor yours nor anyone elses save those who were selected to render their own personal opinion and have it be supreme law. Oh, but it is a GOOD thing that the document is dead.

Look up OathKeepers guys. From my understanding, WITHIN HIS/HER COUNTY, they are the ultimate law of the land. They have exercised this right in the past in regards to raw milk and a few other issues. The sheriff of a given county can actually tell the POTUS to beat feet, he's not welcome in this county. Now, how many counties have the resources to stand against the feds if the feds decide to not play by the rules is a different story.

The county sheriff is who the feds must contact before performing leo actions within the county. THAT'S why you rarely see a DEA raid without SO there too.
