Little known MMJ Growing tips.. Share your knowledge..

Every now and then I stumble upon a bit of lesser known info that proves to be really valuable. It'd be cool to hear from the pros about the tips and tricks they use to produce nice buds..

The only tip I can share is that a top layer of sand will kill Gnats..

I should write a book.....Nah, no one seems to read them. They just come here and ask.....

How about using Botanicare sweet raw......Mg and S will increase trichome production and make the flavors express them selves more.......

WAIT,,,that stuff costs $65 a gallon.....How about you make your own for less then $3 !

Buy a bag of Epsom salts and a box of Dark Brown Sugar.
Put 4 cups of water into a pot on the stove and bring it to a boil.
Add 8 TBL spoons of the Epsom and
1 1/2 tsp spoons of the Dark Brown sugar.
Stir till all the dry ingr. have dissolved and slow boil for another 3 min to be sure.
Remove from stove and pour into an opaque 1 gallon jug.
Quickly add 12 more cups of water to make a whole gallon.

Add at the rate of 10 - 20ml per gallon of feed solution......

Now that is one cheap "trick" ! (and it don't look like the wet end of a cheap cigar,, LOL)

Ok, that does it I'm gonna try this. I saw you posted this somewhere awhile back and I was tempted to write it down and I didnt then. Now I'm gonna do it. I already like its cost effectiveness.

When do you start feeding this sweet concoction, and do you feed it all the way until harvest? THANKS

Instead of Botanicare Sweet Raw/ Bud Candy, you may also use Black Unsulphered Molasses (soil growing). I mix it into warm water, then add it to my watering can. It's hard to overnute using organics so I use whatever amount my plants look like they want. About twice a week (alongside Mother Earth's flowering tea blend).

Also, wear sunglasses when working around HIDs!! Shit is killer on the vision-globes!

The best thing I found out is how to properly shape plants. Through topping, training, and proper trellising the difference is amazing 2x-3x.

I start at the flip with 10ml and increase at 2 weeks to 15ml and to 20ml at 4 weeks - all strains. Run this till strait water finish.

An "old school" trick. BUT, it simply doesn't do exactly the same thing......

The molasses will feed the soils living bio's and helps the flavor some. No real trichome increase in my use over the years. (You need the high Mg and the S in the "sweet's" concentrations.)

Like to express "coloring" in the plant more? (purple, orange, red, what ever the strain is prone to. Comes on later in flower, so be patient).
Up the K by 3 (0-0-3) in flower.
There are now available single or "separate"organic nutrients....Check your grow shop.
Use at every feeding in bloom. Helps flowering onset and seems to aid in density too.

I would assume that more carbs/energy = more trichomes or, at least, better resin. It's all sugar, so that's a lot of energy for the plant to use up.

I am aware that molasses is an alternative to botanicare raw/bud candy. I'd prefer molasses to bud candy because it's organic... It's about 1-0-5 so it should make the plant hardier and a little greener. I would think the trichs would be affected positively; perhaps in size or quality. In addition to other areas of the plant.

Carbs do not equate to more trich's.....It's the Mg and S that do that......Molasses is to low in them in relation to the carb levels.....It WILL effect the Terp production and that's the smell/flavor area. Carbs can effect the density/growth pattern in flower......

I use BAKING molasses in teas for the higher carb levels to feed the growing bio's.....Great for the bio's in the soil too...
I get mine by the case from Gordon Food's, out local commercial food supplier. FAR lower pricing then Grandma's, Bunny or any store bought low sulfur molasses......

Hey Dr. Who, I seen this recipe while trying to search around on ideas as to why I have less trichomes this harvest, same strain only differences are I used a co2 controller this time where as last harvest I used a timed dispersement and this harvest I am using a cooler in my reservoir. I also changed nutrient lines, I noticed much more vigorous growth and way more roots with this grow, so I figured the nutrients are better than what I previously used. My system is a DWC. I'm just starting the last 2-3 weeks of flower and noticed much less trichomes, after reading around I started to wonder if it was due to the higher humidity from the colder water in the system meeting the warm air from the lights. I definitely noticed more sweat on the res, so obviously humidity is much higher. So with that in mind I increased my cooler temp from 64F to 67F, shut down the c02 enrichment so that I could run my exhaust fan all the time to keep the temps down. My room temp was 85-90F with co2. Now without i'm down to 77F fairly stable. I guess my question is if you thought this recipe you have posted would help me out? Any ideas in regards to the lower trichome production? It is a fairly noticeable difference, where as my last crop was completely frosty with trichs. You say add at a rate of 10-20ml per gallon of feed, is that for a hydro application? Thanks for taking the time to read and reply to this. I should also say all reply's/input if welcome.

But a layer of Diatomaceous Earth will cut the shit out of a bugs gnats and weed eating insect making them bleed to death. Kicks sands ass all over thw grow room...
