Lookin too get a new computer...

IMO the best bang for your buck is to build your own. Doing that, you know what quality parts your getting and you can decide what areas you want more resources in (like ram or HDD storage space). If you want, I will try to look around for the minimum hardware you will need and post you some links via PM. Might go a little over your budget depending on what you want though.

Actually unless you have your own operating system and other software you might need, having to purchase all of that as well might bring the cost over what you would be willing to spend.

Actually I have the operating system already. I'll be using a partitioned harddrive running windows 7 ultimate and some form of Linux as it's free and I've always wanted to try it for shits and giggles haha. So that's not gonna be a price factor as it's owned =P

Check newegg for anything computer related. I honestly saved $200 because they were having a sale on what I needed, now I tell everyone about them. Pretty much everything on there is cheap and you can tell what's good by the reviews.

IMO I think they have the lowest price anywhere for most computer hardware. It's like they make sure they their prices are just under any competitors.

I totally agree with you on that. Although if your on a budget and have to order everything separate the shipping and handling can really start to rack up the costs of the build.

That's correct. You also run into problems trying to decide what parts to get, like hmmmmm this is only $50 more but it's alot better, so you end up getting the better hardware...lol I didn't even add the cost of a monitor to his total either, forgot about that, that will add an extra $150-$200. Would prob take closer to $1000 total IMO, but like I said, you will know that you have quality parts, AND excellent warranties. My MB has a lifetime warranty as well as my RAM modules. EVGA makes great boards that have awesome overclocking capabilities and their customer support is the best in the business IMO.

I tore down and re-built so many of these things over the past few years I guess I just assume that everyone knows exactly how to do it. Here is a pic of my rig I built a couple of years ago along with a vid to show the LED's. I spent a little over $1000 on it though.

haha nice man! Yeah ive already got my monitors and O/S and keyboard/mouse. Just need the actual rig itself. And yeah i have the same problem since ive been tearing apart and building these things for a long time, somebody will call me and ask a problem, ill be like "hey just take out the ____ and let me know how it works" and there like "...what?" LOL

So yeah i have alot of experience with building them, Just never with all brand new higher end parts, and certainly not recently haha. Anyways =P I just got your pm and hell yeah id love to see what you would buy given the price.

Id love too see what computer any of you guys would build for the price of say $650. Go at it if you're bored and want something too do haha.

Nice looking rig you got there. I build all my own rigs too. Mines not quite as elaborate as yours but it does the job. I got about grand into mine, but I built about 2 years ago and prices were much higher for those parts back then.

Wow not a bad price after the rebate! The only thing i'd have too say is i dont know if i need the 650 watt PSU(was thinkin 550) and im FORSURE gonna need more than a 250 gb HD. Instead of my 1tb im thinking im gonna get two 500's just incase i have a failure, i don't wanna lose all my data. Im gonna need to buy another stick of ram for whatever computer i get im sure, So you would reccommend ^that g SKILL brand?

As far as the PSU:

Don't go too cheap on it. After all, it is sending all the power to all your new hardware. The more watts it can handle the better IMO, cause you never know what you might want to add later.

The one I posted is about as low as I would advise you to go on it actually.
